Hi girls, thought I would start a new chat thread for June. Here is the last post from the old thread;

Hi all, I just wanted to share my vego pasta recipe that I make at nights if I am hungry, and I can't handle meat, or there is nothing in the freezer.

I bring a large pot of water to boil and add pasta - usually penne or spirals or macaroni. 500g.

While the water is coming to the boil for the pasta, I dice 1/2 brown onion and soften in a non stick fry pan that I have sprayed a little olive oil into. After about 1 min of cooking the onion I add a crushed clove of garlic (or 1 tsp of the minced stuff form the fridge).

Then I add 5 sliced button mushrooms to the pan and cook for one minute. I add 2 tbsp tomato paste to the pan and cook one minute before adding in whatever else I feel like - usually 3 tbsp sliced black spanish olives, 3 tbsp diced red capsicum (or the roasted red capsicum in the jar - I use the always fresh brand). But you can add what you like here, 12 cheery tomatoes quartered, sliced green beans - whatever you have. If you are going to use snow peas though, add them right at te end or they go to soft.

Then I top up to cover the veg mix with salt reduced beef stock (about 1 to 1.5 cups), bring to the boil and then turn down heat and simmer.

When pasta is done, I drain, and then return to the saucepan and throw 2 tbsp of grated fresh parmesan over the pasta with a few grinds of fresh black pepper. Then I pour the sauce over the pasta and stir well until the pasta is covered in the sauce.

If I have it, I throw in a small handful of chopped fresh parsley at this stage too or a very large handful of washed baby spinach leave or baby rocket leaves and then serve.

Serves one preggo mummy and one hungry daddy very well. Could probably serve a todler or two as well if mummy and daddy were not such gutsos like they are in this house...

And that's it. I call it Justmum's Pantry Pasta :chef:

That sounds yummo Justmum!

We are off to the shops shortly, going to look at tandem prams :D

I'm feeling quite good today, so gotta make the most of it.

Hope the rest of you are doing well.

Thanks Hels for starting up the June thread!

Yummy pasta recipe!

I have just come back from looking at tandem prams - I am sooooo confused now. I really dont know what to do!
I think I might put the new baby in the baby bjorn and DD in the stroller for the first couple of months until I work out what I need.....So confusing! I really liked the look of the Phil and Teds Vibe and MB Double...but they are very $$$$

:barf::barf: has set in over the last couple of days...I tend to feel yukky all day. Its only when I snack on dry biscuits or something that I feel better...The kilos are going to add on in no time!!

 all,

Hope everyone is enjoying the long weekend, or is that just in WA?
Work was SO busy yesterday, as soon as my shift started someone tried to hang themself and it all went downhill from then:crying: I was feeling sick and so tired and kept forgetting what i was doing  ! I'm back in this arvo and tomorrow so i hope it's better!!

Pices79...i had a side by side pram when mine were little and it was lovely when i was just out walking but in shops it was real pain, lots of people now seem to have the ones that are in front of each other from what i've noticed.

Justmum...will try that recipe, sounds yum

M2M...hope you're going ok :hugs:

I was going to ask the same thing....What do you do??

I have been feeling pretty crappy all day and need a good rest - except DS has decided he no longer needs a sleep during the day - just when i do. The hubby is working today so am struggling to keep my eyes open :)

I need to look at tandem prams too, I guess....Anyone else have any suggestions other than the Phil and Teds?? (i cant buy them here)

Hope everyone has had a great weekend - we get one next weekend so am looking forward to having some time to rest

I am new in here. I confirmed on Friday that I am pregnant once again, after trying for 4 years. My due date is January 10th (by my calculations anyway). I am yet to have the ultrasound because at the moment I can't really be bothered driving the 250kms each way to have one done. I already have an 8 year old daughter so this time we are hoping for a boy. I haven't had any morning sickness as yet but been feeling a bit queasy from lunchtime onwards. Anyway it will be great to have people to talk to that are around the same stage as we progress.

Hey Bindy, welcome!

3already that's terrible, hope you're ok! :hugs:

Pisces I'd love a Phil and Ted too, they do cost a fair bit though. We'll see, DH has promised me the pram of my dreams so I may well get it! :goodvibes:

fugly you must be exhausted, DS still has a couple of sleeps normally, I look forward to it so much! This pregnancy lark is tiring! :p

I've been pretty good, sick and exhausted, but good.

Hi All,

Just thought I would drop in for a quickie!!!

Haven't read what has been happening in the last month, but hope everyone is well.

I am feeling exhausted, and having periods of feeling totally **** and okay. Work is busy (hence why I haven't been here much).

Hope everyone is okay,

Hi girls and welcome Bindy:wave:

We also looked at some tandem prams today, but only the cheaper ones like Childcare and Babylove. Not going to spend a lot on one as I don't think we would use it for all that long. Not going to buy one for a while though, just looking.

We did buy a maxi-rider carseat and DS will use it from now. So we have taken his other one out and will re-install it when bubs comes and rear face it again. Eventually, we will have them both in a maxi-rider, but not until the new bub weighs 8kgs.

I'm off to bed soon as we have an appt at the RCH tomorrow morning for DS, so an early start for us.

Nite all

Hi Bindy - congratulations on falling pregnant after 4 years! That is wonderful.

M2M - good luck today get your blood results. I have everything crossed for you.

Well, MS has well and truly kicked in and I feel horrible. Why oh why did I get pregnant again?! I have so much to pack and just no energy. We move in a week and a half!

hope everyone is feeling ok, and MS is not too bad.

Hey all, when i first seen this thread i thought what the hell, how can ppl be due in june. But then i relised ohh its june! I have a very dumb pregnancy brain at the moment. I should know its june! Its my DD's 3rd Birthday on wednesday!
Ive been feeling fine, a bit sad at times as my DF just doesnt get it sometimes! But thats another story!
Ive been VERY tired, and themamma i get you, we are moving interstate in about 5 weeks and i still havnt started packing!
This house is just a mess, i clean it and it gets dirty pretty much straight away! Its like i have 2 kids in this household. DF is acting like a 12yr old at times!
Hope every1 is doing well.
M2M hope your blood test results come back good.

I haven't posted much but I have been reading what everyone is doing pretty much every day.

M2M - I hope everything is OK with you. My thoughts are with you

The fatigue has hit me like a tonne of bricks and the MS is pretty bad at night. I have had to get help from family as I am too tired to cope with DS everyday by myself. My poor DH is working 6 days and three nights and has still been getting up to DS at night and in the morning so I can sleep but he is now starting to crash. Last night we went to MIL place for dinner and she offered to take DS overnight. Ahhhhh, heaven we got to sleep in until 9am with no interruptions :D

I have been offered some frequent flyer points by MIL to go to QLd for a couple of weeks to see my parents. That way they could help me look after DS during the 1st trimester. Last time the 1st tri was the hardest to get through as well but I could sleep all day if I wanted to. This time I can't. I think I will take her up on the offer, that way DH can get a lot of work done and get some sleep and I have help.

Only 4 weeks to go until the 2nd trimester, I'm counting down the hours. Last time it was about 12-13 weeks and it was like someone flicked a switch - no more MS, I felt human again and didn't need to sleep 18 hours a day.

Anyone having any cravings? The only thing I can eat that makes me actually feel better than worse afterwards are McChickens and meat pies!! I figure better to be eating **** than nothing at all (I have lost weight since being pregnant and I was already below my ideal weight)

Morning ladies,

Haylie - I will keep everything crossed for you hun.

As for me I ended up in hospital with dehydration for the past couple of days. I haven't been able to keep anything down even water. They checked out bub and he/she is fine. I am just one of the unlucky ones as far as m/s goes.

Welcome to all the newbies and congratulations.

Hi everyone! Thanks for thinking of me :hugs:

Some good news this morning- I spoke to the nurse at the clinic and my hcg levels on Friday were 16000. That went up from 9600 2 days prior. I looked it up and apparently by 6-7 weeks it can take 3.5 days for the levels to double so everything is looking really good. She told me that as far as they are concerned everything is fine and our baby is still going strong. She agrees I should put in a complaint about the ultrasound tech because he shouldn't have even been talking to us, let alone giving misleading information and causing so much heartache :shame:

My next scan in on Friday in Brisbane :goodvibes:

TheMamma I feel your pain. We move in TWO DAYS and I'm still not even really packed. I have soo much to do it's not funny but I can't get motivated.

MIW- omg you poor thing! I hope you are ok now. Do you have some time off work?

Good morning lovely ladies!

How are we all today?

M2M - im so happy for you, how relieved! I would definately be putting in a strong worded complaint and making sure they tell you on how they are dealing with it!

Im pretty excited today - my dearest Father in Law told DH and I yesterday that he would buy us the Beema Q (hopefully with bassinett ).

Apart from that, getting excited also, as my sister is coming home for 2 weeks with my neice and nephew (she lives in NZ atm) and she is coming for my mum's 60th which shall be a big sheebang!

How was everyone's weekends?!

btw, i have absolutely nothing to do at work, have done it all already and now can only think about food! doh!

I have been on the scales, I had the joy of having a medical for work when I started my new job which is 1 week before I fell pregnant and since then I have gained 6.5 kgs. Mum reckons I am having twins. I haven't had a scan as yet to find out...kinda dreading it actually just incase they say there are 2.

Hi Haylie - Great news about your bloods, I agree put in a complaint about the tech guy. What an idiot to stress you out so much.

I had today off work and I know my boss wasn't happy I will be facing the music tomorrow.

I did go to the Doc again today and I have booked my NT scan for the 23rd Jan. I went to a Doc near our home who my dh usually sees and he was brilliant. He bascially layed out our whole game plan for my pregnancy he rang and booked appointments for me which was fantastic because I really have no idea what I am doing. I had been to see my normal GP at least 5times since I have been PG and not once has he taken my blood pressure or weighed me, the Doc today gave me a complete work over. I am happy that I finally listened to my DH who has been trying to get me to see his Doc for months.

Welcome Kylie & congratulations:yelclap:

Hello ladies!

Bindy & Kylie...congrats on your BFPs & welcome to the thread!

M2M...I'm so so so happy for you! That's fantastic news!!! If ever there was a good example as to why it's important to get a 2nd opinion in these things, your case is it. Big hugs - you'll be over the moon! :D

Pregnancy is such a roller coaster ride, isn't it?!

3already...big hugs...hope you're doing ok & work isn't too much of a drag for you.

Bec&Bel...good luck for your move & hope you have a great time on Wed for your daughter's birthday party!

Mrsgrumpygills...big hugs, hun. Your MIL's offer sounds so nice. Your wee man will have a great time with his grandparents & you'll be able to sleep (yay).

MIW...hope you're ok! Can they give you something for the nausea? So you can keep something down? Big hugs. Good to hear you've got a good Dr, though - always a big help!

I'm officially loosing the emotional plot. Preggie hormones have destroyed an sense of self control I once had. I was playing a video game over the weekend & kept bursting into tears. Ok - it had some rather sentimental side plots involving the meaning of life & death but still - it's a video game!!!

I also have a serious craving for Indian. I've had it for a week or so now. I need naan & curry. Unfortunately, hubby hates it when I buy takeaway...but he's been away for nearly a week. I've been good & held out till now (well - ok...we had it once last week too). But tonight I'm splashing out on some yummy garlic naan & a couple of curries. Shame my daughter doesn't like curry. Oh well. I bribed her with the promise of mango lassi...so we're all good :devil6:

I am also loosing weight. Yay. Same thing happened last pregnancy...shame it doesn't last. Sigh. But it does mean I probably will only gain a couple of kilos by the end, like last time. Which I'm happy with - much easier to take off once bub is born.

On a happier note, the tiredness is almost gone. #2 is going through a growth spurt...& when he does that, he sleeps like there's no tomorrow. So even though hubby is away, I've been even getting lots of morning sleep ins. So nice.

Hope everyone is doing well!

Thanks everyone! I still have it in the back of my head that there's a chance the scan won't go too well on Friday but at least there is a lot of hope to hang on to now :bee: It is good we asked for a 2nd opinion but my FS wouldn't have done anything about a D&C anyway thank goodness because he also feels 6 weeks is too early. None of this would have happened if the u/s guy had of kept his mouth shut and waited until my FS received the results and discussed it with us.

Welcome kylie and all other newies that I have missed saying hello to

MIW- that's so exciting that things are happening and you have a lot of appts etc sorted out. I bet it makes it feel more real now!

Indian- I have never had indian food :o I'm not sure I would like it though.

I hope everyone is keeping well.

I've managed to pack a few more boxes but still have a very long way to go. I just can't get motivated and it's a bit worrying that I only have one more day to pack and the house still looks pretty normal like we aren't going anywhere

My ms has been pretty bad still. I feel so tired and sick every day but hopefully that wont last to long.
When I saw the doc today he weighed me and I lost 2kg which I was quite happy about as I thought I would have gained weight....but with this ms I havent eaten a lot just trying to eat enough to make the nausea go away :p I cant stand the sight off food at all at the moment.......

I have a little bit left over for lunch tomorrow. So maybe I'll be able to eat then. Otherwise the chickens are going to have a feast tomorrow (minus any meat).

On the other hand, my kids stuffed themselves. Is it good that a 17 month old can't eat enough garlic naan? And wolfs down chicken mango curry & coconut rice?

I dunno if savoury necessarily means a boy...I craved KFC colonel burgers with my daughter...& McChicken burgers with my son...but then, I also craved mandarins & the smell of Vicks with him too...odd.

This time round is so different. Last time I was working, which was really hard. But this time, I think a demanding one year old is worse! I am still breastfeeding in the morning but I have decided (reluctantly) today that I will have to stop as it just makes me too sick.

I just want to crawl in a hole until 20 weeks and sleep.

IOn the other hand, my kids stuffed themselves. Is it good that a 17 month old can't eat enough garlic naan? And wolfs down chicken mango curry & coconut rice?

Ahhh, I hate you. My DS has a reportoire of 7 items; porridge, bananas, yogurt, peanut butter sandwiches, rockmelon and sausages with the skin peeled off. This is ALL he will eat, if I try to get him to eat anything else he get hysterical and won't even eat the things he likes. It does my head in. Hopefully he will change.

I am having an experiment today. I am trying to eat something high calory every hour. I have a theory that I don't have enough energy to grow a baby plus operate my body. I feel best after a meat pie or McChicken which are both very high calory meals, so I figure if I just eat even when I don't feel like it I might not crash. The only issue is I'm also trying to eat healthy, what is high fat and healthy? hmmmmm

Epiphany - last night for dinner my 1 year old had steak baguette and veges, with hot sauce...is that normal? LOL

I hear you...m/s is the pits:(. A girl at my Dh's work gave me something called pregcel it's a lemon drink I am going to try it today. I only have 1 satchel so I am trying to make sure I use it when it is at it's worst.:o
Has anyone tried this before?..

To make things worse, Cityrail is doing track work for the next 2 weeks so I now have to leave half an hour earlier in the morning and catch a bus to connect with the train and it will take me 40min longer to get home.. a man must have designed the time table :geek:..

And food I don't eat meat, but dh made himself taco's last night and when he sat down to eat them I had to have one, and I managed to keep it down. The smell made me hungry that's a first for weeks.

Nicky is a pretty good eater, but give him broccoli or cauliflower and the look on his face is priceless. Hayden likes most thing but hes beggining to refuse food, but then eats it when hes out of his high chair. I think with him its just a case of a$$holeness. hehe. He LOVES apples and if I dont watch him properly he eats it ALL. CORE and everything. Really gross.

My m/s isnt too bad. Everything worries me too but my boobs are still a tad sore. My m/s seems to be worse some days and not too bad others. I find as long as I am constantly eating its fine.

I remember my niece went through a period where she wouldn't eat anything but Mcdonalds nuggetts. and it lasted months & months. If she didn't get them she would scream the house down, and they had to be from McDonalds we tried to give her other brands but she would always know. In the end my sister just said no more, and refused to buy them for her

Hi ladies:wave:

i am feeling pretty good. Just so dog tired all the time now. Feel like I could keep sleeping all day. I wish my ds had the same idea!!!

ds is 7 months and is still only only mushy pureed food, although he hasn't refused anything to date!!! He would keep eating if i kept feeding him. It is very rare for him to stop before the bowl is empty! He is a little piggy!!! I am hoping this continues though and I don't get a fussy eater. My DH's little sister would only eat coco pops for a few weeks when she was about 2. The Doc told his mum to just feed her them coz eventually she would get sick of them and at least she is eating, even if it is coco pops!!!! :D

 ladies,

Well the sickness has hit with a vengeance the last 2 days, i had to ring in sick at work yesterday as i couldn't stand up without gagging. I'm not actually vomiting which is a blessing!
For those who asked, i work as a mental health nurse so i'm used to people harming themselves (or worse still trying to harm me!)but trying to deal with it when you feel like **** is very hard!
I can't catch up with the whole weekends posts but welcome to any newbies :)
I'm off to try to find something i can eat, i just don't know what i feel like at all !
For those of you with the fussy eaters it doesn't get easier...my DS10 lived on chicken, cheese and vegemite when he was little and is still pretty much the same !! Won't touch vegies of any description no matter how well they're hidden!
With this baby i'm going to set the rules early..if it doesn't eat what it's given it goes without  I don't think pandering to them and giving them what they want does them or us any favours as my experience with my son has shown me!

Hi Everyone

I am finally able to sit down and type without running to be sick - m/s or rather all day sickness has hit hard the last 3 weeks. So much so that I had to go to hospital and have three injections to make it stop and now I'm on maxolon to help. I can't stomach any food or drink, I've never felt so bad :crying:

I've missed so much chatting on BH, I don't know where you are all up to but I hope everyone has been well . I went for my scan and it showed everything is fine, the baby is the right size and is in the right spot so that's reassuring. I have my NT scan coming up in a few weeks so :fingerscrossed: for that one.

I'm 8 weeks and 3 days today, the time is flying for us all I'm sure :smiliedance:

Hi girls!

Just letting you all know we are moving tomorrow and I will be offline until sometimes next week.

I have my scan on Friday so hopefully when I do get back online I will have some good news to share :fingerscrossed:

Wishing everyone all the best for the next week or so. For those with scans coming up- GOOD LUCK! For those with bad m/s- :hugs:.

As for fussy eaters, I feel your pain! Mason is pretty bad even though as a baby I offered him EVERYTHING and he had such a good diet. I think it's all part of the 2 year old stage and he thinks he's boss and he'll eat what he wants when he wants  I never make an issue of it though because I'm determined that food isn't going to be a fight in our house. It's not worth it! I sneak healthy stuff in when I can and the rest of the time, if he doesn't want it I don't force him to eat it. I have that book 'deceptively delicious' which is really good, it's things like chocolate brownies with spinach leaves in it etc. You wouldn't even know!

Better go finish some packing  Catch up with you all next week.

Good luck with your scan M2M, I will be thinking of you.

Hugs to all with MS. Mine is OK, just bakery goods associated nausea. I go near a bakery, it's like a scene from the exorcist. :barf:

Children and food - my DS has good and bad days. At the moment he refuses to be fed, it's finger food or nothing and he loves to throw food too  Oh unless it's sweets of course and then he opens up like a baby bird.

Melly_bel, what sort of ligament pain are you having? Is it tummy or pelvis? I had early onset SPD last time (at 8 weeks!) and am having some familiar unpleasant twinges already this time at 6 weeks. Is that what you are having too?

MGG, do you get sick of peeling the sausages?? Have you tried chevaps?

Anyway, was to start antenatal yoga tonight, but decided not to go, as DS has an ear infection. When he's sick he just wants his "mumumumum" so I didn't dare go out. Hopefully next week. :fingerscrossed: I am also hoping to do the antenatal aqua aerobis at Beatty Park once a week. Any other WA girls want to go to either?

Whats SPD? Its basically just like stitch pain when I move, and occasionally when I am sitting. I never got it this early with the boys.

I have terrible back pain though, lower back pain, I cant stand up very long at all. It hasnt really got much better since the boys were born but I remember when they were first born it was at its worst and I couldnt even bath them as my pain in my back was so bad.

I did have a very bad epidural experience and I thought it might have had somthing to do with that too. I had over 10 puncture wounds from the epi on my back. They couldnt get it in and I remember feeling my tendons or my spine crunching under the needle!!!

Even though my Wee Man ate his Indian, he's normally pretty fussy. Has gone right off sandwiches & will only eat piklets or potato wedges for lunch (sigh). And he has more days where he won't eat his veges at dinner time than ones where he will. Funny though - he adores soup. I have some chicken noodle soup (with real chicken, big chunky noodles & *lots* of veges) &he wolfs that down, no problems. It's about the only way I can consistently get veges into him. Of course, there's usually no problem with fruit & yoghurt...

M2M...good luck with your move & all the best for Friday.

It's an over supply of relaxin hormone that causes your ligaments to over soften and your pelvis to become unstable because it loses it's ligament support. Last time my hips became misaligned a few times. It was hideous. I blame the relaxin for everything! Shocking stuff (although somewhat neccessary).

Welcome to all the newbies, i hope your journey is a safe and enjoyable one.

I havent really bought anything for the baby yet as I have lots left over from Steph if its a girl, and I have bits and pieces left over from the business. If its a boy I will go shopping when we find out.

I started my 10th week yesterday and I have to say that the nausea feeling is slowly drifting away which is such a relief.

I have booked my blood test and 12wk scan so hope all goes well. Im excited but im trying to stay optimistic that everything will be okay.

Can this cause your back to be put out? Because when I was getting the epi she said my spine was curved - now my sister has that curveture of the spine thing, so I wasnt suprised I had it, but Id never had problems with my back before the pregnancy.

The first preg symptom this time was I felt my groin ligaments stretching. So could very well be!

I think it tends to be in the groin / pelvis / hips.

Here is a site that gives some info on what it is:

http://www.pelvicinstability.org.au/

If you have it, it's good to get diagnosed and seek treatment.

I hope your back doesn't cause as much trouble this time :hugs:

Hi girls,

I haven't been on for a couple of days as I've had a migraine :( It's something that I suffer from normally and when I am PG I usually :barf:aswell. So now I have had my first officially pregnancy chuck too. DH had to come home early from work yesterday to look after DS, I could hardly get out of bed. Thankfully last time I was PG I only had 3 during the whole pregnancy but I ended up in hospital with one of them.
Anyway, I am feeling a lot better now but just exhausted so I need a couple of days of eating well and resting.

I'm 9 weeks today :smiliedance: and I've booked my NT scan for 25th June (at 12 weeks). I can't wait to see the little bubba again!

Hello,
I was just wondering if anyone has taken restavit during pregnancy? I have horrible insomnia and i am struggling to stay awake during the day with my little 14 month old... just wondering if anyone has had it during early pregnancy or if it is safe??
Thanks!!

This is what it says on the medical info sheet for Restavit:

Like most antihistamine medicines Restavit is not recommended for use during pregnancy. Restavit is not known to cause birth defects but studies to prove it is safe for the developing baby have not been done.

I would maybe discuss with your Ob or LMC about your insomnia rather than trying an OTC medication, in case there's something more suitable for you to take. Good luck!

Cordelia: Big hugs, hun. The tiredness will go away eventually (honest!). It's just horrible while you're experiencing it...especially while having another little one to care for.

I have to admit, I was thrilled this afternoon when Wee Man slept for 3 hours (!!!) - I actually got a decent snooze on the sofa. But when he woke up, it became very apparent why he'd been sleeping so much. After a long stint at the Dr (after 40 degree temps, shallow breathing, shaking & refusing all food), it turns out he has an ear & throat infection. Poor wee thing :( Sometimes it sucks to be a little kid.

i am booked in for my first u/s @ 13wks and they will be checking while they are at it.

as i am going through medicare the scan costs me bout $160 anyways so i figure why not make sure everything is AOK.

Thanks epiphany - yikes, I hope DS gets better soon.

angelbaby: personally, (and I don't speak for everyone - these are my personal thoughts), i don't want to have the NT scan (DH wants it so i may have it yet.) The scan is only an indication of your chances of having a down syndrome baby or a baby with genetic defects (pardon me if that's not quite accurate). Sometimes the results can be very out of wack. If you are given a high chance, then you have to go and get a further test, an amnio, where there is a high risk of miscarriage. We wouldn't want to risk that, so why bother having the NT ultrasound to start off with? As I said, DH would like to have this ultrasound and these are just my thoughts.

I have had a bad cough and noticed a tiny bit of blood today. Also VERY tender around the lower stomach and having (not really really painful) stabbing pains in the side of my stomach. I'm 9 weeks today. Is it too late to be an eptopic pregnancy?I think I'm panicking.. my muscles are probably sore from all the coughing. what do you guys reckon? My obstetrician appointment (who does a scan) is next Tuesday. It's ok to wait til then unless I get more severe cramping and bleeding?

epiphany
05-06-2008, 12:03 AM
just a quick q...why wouldn't you have an NT scan?

Well...if you're not at increased risk of having a Down Syndrome child (due to age, family incidence of chromasomal abnormality, etc), there is probably little point. And, as Cordelia mentioned, it only gives very broad percentage of the liklihood of carrying a bub with something wrong. Even a "high" percentage...say 1 in 60...that still means around 98% chance of having a normal baby yet that result might be enough to make some people consider aborting, even though it's still a high chance of having a normal bub.

Plus the other tests you would be offered if you had a high risk to better confirm whether or not bubs has something, also have significant risks - CVS & amnio both have around 1 in 200 chance of miscarriage, for example.

I am always bemused that people just assume I am going to have one, yet I am not in any of the high risk factors for Downs &, even if the test came back with a significant positive result, I would not have further diagnostic testing & would not abort my baby (but I realise for others, it's a big deal whether or not their baby potentially has a chromasomal abnormality). The only reason I accept the offer of an NT scan is because I like to see bubs on the ultrasound (& yes, I know there is some talk about excessive scanning not being good for baby but it's not like I sit there all day with an ultrasound on my belly) & if something was possibly wrong, I guess it might help me mentally prepare for it.

There are so many different levels to Down Syndrome &, while there are some Downs people who can't survive on their own & are severely handicapped, there are many more who are independant, fully functioning people who lead a great life. Sometimes the potential outcome of a "high probability" NT scan result doesn't sit well with me...

I guess it really boils down to how important it is for you to know &, if the result was "high probability," what you would then do with that info.

I will be having a NT scan. My DH and I have always been very adament on this, I suppose its because we know that if this child has DS we will not be able to give the same amount of care to the boys, and it would be definitely affecting them. Selfish maybe, but Im only thinking of my sons. It would be different if the time came though I think.

Im feeling ok, I get so worried when I dont have m/s. But I have to remember I didnt have it that bad with the twin pregnancy and I already know how high my levels are, so its not like its from a lack of hcg!

I am finally headache free today and feeling normal again, first time since monday :smiliedance:

Re NT scan - I am a higher risk because of my age (late 30's) but not for any other reason. Last time I had the triple test at 17 weeks which checked for spina bifida and other neural tube defects aswell. I may still have that too. My OB thought I should have the NT scan this time but I'm not sure if we would have further testing if the results are high risk, I guess we cross that bridge if we come to it.

Has anyone looked at the Amore range of tandem prams? I have seen them online and I like the look of them as they are not as long as some others because the back seat is higher. I'd like to see one "in the flesh".

Cordelia, epiphany, Hels*Bels - thank you for your comments about the NT scan.

My hubbys cousin had a DS baby (not too severe) in 2006 (i think) so we are going to have the test anyway.

I do agree that is can cause more worry, and the risk of mc from the amnio is scary, but i personally think i would like to be prepared if it did come to that.

I hope everyone is well today :flowerz: the sun is shining so its not all bad  except for a cheeky toddler stealing her mummy's breakfast :hissy:

My son has been a bit poorly. Luckily he's been in good spirits and still got an appetite. He's got cold symptoms and has had a red blotchy cheek. As I thought this maybe slapped cheek virus I took him to the Doctor but she didn't think it was slapped cheek as she said you normally have a high temperature for 3-4 days prior to the rash coming out. My son's temp is just slightly higher than normal. However, my son's teacher has advised me that there has been a confirmed case of SC in the class. Plus, I've googled SC and I've read that infected children don't always have a high temperature. I am now thinking that my son did have SC.

It can affect the baby in the 1st trimester. However, most adults are immune from the virus. I don't know whether I had it as a child. We've all had a cold so I don't know where I stand.

Luckily, I have my OB apptmnt on Tues so I can discuss this more with him then, however, I think I'm going to phone him to just to check what they can do to make sure all stays well.

Hope everyone else is well and happy. I think the MS is finally wearing off, however, it's been replaced with a cold and I feel v.tired.

Hey girls :)

Just got back from our Broome trip early this morning ... a day late. Just want to quickly update you all. Am dead TIRED

Was trying to do a short version - but it hasn't turned out that way ...

I went to emergency up there on Monday as I had started to bleed quite heavily. They did an u/s with their ancient machine and all looked ok, they couldn't see where the bleed was coming from but confirmed I was 8 weeks that day (consistent with the scan I had the week before). Left after about 2 hours as all looked ok, and they couldn't really do much apart from hope for the best. Went back 2 hours later as I was bleeding again and passing clots. They admitted me. 2 hours later I passed out and nurses and doctors came from everywhere (just about all the staff were in the room!). Once I was stable (scared the cr@p out of everyone ... they even called for the arrest machine!), they diagnosed an incomplete miscarriage and booked me for a scan first thing Tuesday morning to see what was 'left'. I got through the night with hourly monitoring and not much rest. I wasn't in any real pain - more like a mild period pain. The scan Tuesday showed I still had 'product' left so they booked me for a D&C that arvo ... which was lucky as there was actually QUITE a lot more than they thought. I was discharged yesterday and flew home late last night.

I'm ok - things honestly haven't hit home yet, and I know I'm yet to grieve as I think I was waiting till I was home again. Things haven't been too bad since - no pain, but DH is going to drive me up the wall by Monday when he goes back to work!!!!!!!!!!!

Hope everyone else is progressing well, I really want to catch up with what's been happening this past week, so will do that over the next few days ... even though I'm sadly no longer part of your group :(

Such sad news bubble, I am sorry to hear of your MC.

I now feel so selfish talking about how great I have felt today. Today was the best day I've had since the MS / fatigue started. I am soooooo hoping that it is a sign of things to come and not a small break. I had my first appointment at the birth center today. A bit weird going in as last time i was there I walked out with a little baby. A nice but scary reminisce.

The cat jumped up on the edge of the bath tonight while DS was having his bath. I had to video it on my phone I thought it would be on funniest home videos for sure but the cat did not go in. It is still very cute though and i have uploaded it to youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=emtyMGUVPfs

M2M - I just wanted to wish you all the best for your scan tomorrow!!! I have everything crossed for you! Let us know how you get on!!

Today I had another US. They have changed my dates back 5 days - so I am 6w tomorrow! I got to see a HB today which was very exciting!!!

I have been feeling sick during the day - nothing as bad as the other poor bub hubbers - but if I go too long without food - I start feeling yukky!!

I am sure MS will crank up a notch or too over the next couple of weeks...yeah??

I have been going to bed very early over the last couple of weeks - makes me feel much better and easier to handle our toddler! lol

Has anyone looked at the Amore range of tandem prams? I have seen them online and I like the look of them as they are not as long as some others because the back seat is higher. I'd like to see one "in the flesh".I googled it & couldn't find anything??? Where can I check them out? Thanks Hels!!!

Oh bubble im sooo sorry hun :( That has broken my heart reading that. Im sooo terribly sorry. I know exactly the pain you are experiencing so please if u need to talk I am here.

Good luck today M2M!!

Im still having on and off m/s. Tiredness is pretty evident. Thats about it! I got worried yesterday as I read somewhere that u/s people at 7 weeks like to see a h/b of over 130 and mine was only 125bpm. Then i researched a bit more and its normnal to be in between 120-160 or something.

M2M - I'm so anxious to hear how the scan goes

I'm thinking of getting a revelo buggy pod. It's an extra seat with 5 point harness that attaches to the side of your pram. It adds 39cm to the width, so not sure if that is too much. But it looks so cool, it folds up when you don't need it, when the toddler is walking, then flips back out when you need it.

I think Toys R Us sells them, maybe they are exclusive to them.

I am feeling quit blah today, very tired and sik so I am dry retching  I will go back to bed soon (when DS does).

I am also wishing M2M all the best for her scan today. I expect she is very nervous.

Hi All

I have been MIA for a little bit and haven't kept up to date with all the posts wo I hope most of you are well.

Bubble C - I am so sorry for your loss. I hope you have lots of people to support you through it.

I hate to say anythign after that but I have good news today. Had an appointment with my obs midewife today and they checked to see if they could find a HB on the doppler (as my last scan was only 4w6d and didn't show much) - nothing came up which left me a bit anxious - but i do remember reading that you don't always get a consistent reading until 12 w or so. So they managed to fit me in with the ob for a very quick scan and it looks like I have another wriggly bub who wont sit still!! So all looking very good. It feels more real now seeing something in there.

Anyway I am still 9w6d and having my nuchal scan in 2 weeks. Had no issues with DD but am a bit older now so I hope things are all OK (I am not sure when the higher risk really starts).

Anyway - best wishes to all of you and hope you all have a great weekend.

Hi girls,

Bubble :hugs: pop in and see us anytime. All the best to you hun :hugs:

M2M what fantastic news :smiliedance: I am so over the moon for you.

Epiphany I bought 2 pairs of maternity jeans yesterday, a long cardigan and my 2 glamourmom long tanks just arrived in the post too - I have been a wee bit naughty. That's boredom for you though - I am stuck at home with a sick bub so am on the internet way too much. :o I have also bought a bendon bra that I am waiting for - :fingerscrossed: it fits!!

And you know the sad thing?? I CAN'T EVEN REMEMBER WHAT ELSE I'VE BOUGHT ONLINE!!!! Lol, I have no idea, I think a maternity hoodie and some make up and goodness knows what else, some newborn nappies too I think. My DH is going to flip. All good bargains, but still we are going down to a single wage again in October :shame:

Has anyone else bought anything? Either for bubs or themselves?

Also, I have to sell DS' pram. Any ideas on where to do this? Is Ebay the best?

Justmum - You have done well lol. Yes, sell the pram on eBay, Oztion or MU.

I have bought some secondhand maternity pants and Jeans from eBay, they were only about $12 each incl postage (I am not a big spender lol). The jeans are nice as they have a full pouch on the front which is what I prefer. But they only just fit me now in the thigh area so I'm not sure how I will go at 6+ mths PG which is when I will need them. Maybe I should get another pair aswell

We had one of these for DS and it was my sanity saver on many occasions - allowing me to have a shower for instance!!

Hmm, I am feeling somewhat ashamed of my shopping now I've sat down and thought about it. I guess it isn't as bad as it sounds (who exactly am I trying to convince here??? :o:o) because I was bargain hunting but I am now on a shopping diet.

M2M- So glad that you sought a second scan and everything turned out fine, congragulations :smiliedance:! Tell your bub thats your scare over for this pregnancy and the rest is to be as smooth and as enjoyable as possible .

I had a doctors app tonight, nothing special just bp etc. I asked him when he was feeling my belly if he could hear the heartbeat yet (9 weeks), he said the earliest he had ever heard one on his doppler was 10 weeks. So he stuck it on anyway and straight away could hear the babies heartbeat! It was absolutely awesome!!! He was shocked to .

DD is 14kgs already too, but she has been for about a year, so maybe she won't hit 16 for a while. DS is about 10kgs, so we should be right with him. Maybe you could use it for the new baby when s/he is over 6months?

yep they are, I saw them in a baby shop last week, it was $169.95 which is a bit exxy, but compared to a phil & teds, way better! I'm still leaning more towards a P&t, just toying with the idea of this buggy pod for a while. :o

I am on a really tight budget but I was very naughty the other day and went to the Richmond Pumpkin Patch outlet. I brought 5 tops and 2 dresses, all really nice summer stuff, for $70! The receipt said it was $309 off the RRP. I highly recommend anyone in Melbourne having a visit they had some really nice stuff in there and most of it is summer clearance stock which is when I'll be big and fat

Cordelia
07-06-2008, 10:57 AM
$70 for all that!!!!!!!!!! I really liked my pumpkin patch maternity clothes last time. they were loooovely. I loved my pants with the draw string tie thing - so comfy.

DD loves to sit on my stomach for a ride. Well, now when she sits there I can feel new bub. She jumps up and down on my stomach and I'm getting a bit worried!! What do you guys reckon? I think I might have to give her a ride on my legs instead

m2m - I can't believe the turn of events. You must be ECSTATIC!!! That's amazing - what a special baby.

prams - dont knwo don't know don't know.. as it is DD (nearly 18 months) doesn't use her pram that often. She sits in the trolley or walks. But when I have another bub it's going to be different isn't it. I can see myself with my bubba moe sling and DD in the trolley... I just don't knowwwww. I'd rather not... DD will be 24 months.

Just been decorating her new room. She knows where "Caitlin's bed" is and did lay in it for a while the other day!! (well 3 minutes - but that's a miracle in itself). The goal is to get her in a bed; stop her using a bottle; and POSSIBLY (very doubtful) toilet train her well before the new bub arrives.

Anyway better get cleaning. My in-laws are arriving from Adelaide on Wednesday which I dread because I have been getting sick at around 5pm which is when DD is at her worst and they'll expect me to be getting dinner. SO I think we'll tell them our news fairly quickly so that they give me more of a hand. We are telling my parents tonight woohoo!!

What a post - sorry just getting some things of my chest. (and procrastinating housework!!)

Have a great weekend :)

Evening Ladies!

Hope you are all doing well!

Bubbles, im so very sorry to hear your news :(

M2M - what great news you have! Congratulations.

Unfortunately and fortunately i guess these are the two extremes of pregnancy.

Welcome to all the newly pregnant ladies :) - to be honest i feel a little strange as i still feel new myself haha!

Im pretty excited - we are 10w today and i finally got rid of boxes out of my house and into the newly stacked garage! So this means i can finally clean the house to my fastidious standard! (we also have 2 cats so we have to be fussy).

Also i had a phone call from my Mother in Law yesterday - she was so excited - my Father in Law layby'd us the Beema q pram which is exactly what we want - with ALL the accessories he could find for it LOL Im pretty stoked because its just so generous of him and we were going to settle for a 12mth old 2nd hand one!

So now i just wanna buy everything - although cant as my dad is living with us :( so we have to wait for him to move out before we have the other bedrooms to expand into! So now nowhere to store it DOH!

Going for the blood test part of the NT test on Tuesday :D

How are we all feeling? I have the flu and feel so sick, does anyone know if its safe to take any kind of medication while pregnant?

I havent bought anything yet for bubs but I bought dd a new maxi rider as well and the old baby seats are now put away for the new bub:) I cant wait to buy things but I wanna wait till about 12 weeks after my scan before I go crazy buying things..lol...I have kept everything from dd so if I have another girl I will be set but if its a boy I can shop for all new clothes. I am so exited to find out so I can set the babys room up. We were so lucky as we only just finished our house extension 2 weeks before finding out we are pregnant so got that extra room now that we are going to need:D

Most stores will layby stuff and you can pick it up a couple of weeks before you are due. This works better as well because the warranties do not kick in until you take them home. If you get stuff now then you are already 6mths into the warranty before the baby even comes.

How are we all feeling? I have the flu and feel so sick, does anyone know if its safe to take any kind of medication while pregnant?

http://www.safefetus.com is a good website just type in the brand name or drug name and it will tell you what effects if any they drugs have been found to have.

Hi girls, how are we all? I hope everyone is enjoying the long weekend.

I am feeling pretty blah still, the nausea lasts all day and when I go to bed I feel quite sick and am dry retching. I am starting to feel very "over it" all :(

I just keeping reminding myself of the little bundle of blue or pink at the end of it, but I wish I could fast forward 6-7 months lol.

We have bought the maxi rider for DS too, we got the AHR model which comes with the extra head support. Bub #2 will start off in DS's original carseat as it rear faces and as soon as he/she reaches 8kgs we will get another maxi rider. They are definitely a great carseat

Hi all :)
Long weekend finally coming to an end :(

I have woken up today with a bit of a scare. I went to the loo at 3:30am (usual), andwhen I wiped I noticed brown cm, really brown cm. It's there only when I wipe, no flow. I have no pain, just my usual uterus stretching kind of cramps. But it is really scary not knowing whats going on? I am 7w 5d today and hoping that this cm dissapears soon!

I hope everyone is well and the dreaded m/s is keeping at bay.

hi all! went & bought a double pram today from toys r us... talk about getting things prepared early:rolleyes: it's a jeep 6 wheel umbrella type twin stroller that folds up really small & is quite lightweight.. very easy to manouvre. Very happy with it. Most double prams (especially 3 wheeled) don't fit in my car, but i could fit 3 of these ones in (i think).

Now just need to buy some newborn cloth nappies, find out if i need to buy boy clothes (will find out the sex) and buy 2 more car seats & i'm done. what will i do for the rest of the 30 weeks?

I have woken up today with a bit of a scare. I went to the loo at 3:30am (usual), andwhen I wiped I noticed brown cm, really brown cm. It's there only when I wipe, no flow. I have no pain, just my usual uterus stretching kind of cramps. But it is really scary not knowing whats going on? I am 7w 5d today and hoping that this cm dissapears soon!

I hope everyone is well and the dreaded m/s is keeping at bay.

xx
I had this for about 5 days and its just gone now, had a scan and everything is perfect!

Hope everything's ok rrt, how has it been during the day?
Hey mamalicious. Well it is still around today. Like I said there is no 'flow' as such, but definitley a there when I wipe. I have been wearing a pad today to be able to see better what is actually coming out. About 5:00pm tonight there was a huge amount so I thought stuff it and I went the hospital. The staff were lovely there. I saw a great female Dr. and she had an internal feel to see if I was tender or sore which I wasn't. They also took blood to meaure my Hcg and the results will be in in about a couple of hours. They have booked me in for a scan tomorrow morning as today is a public holiday there were no sonographers around. I am really glad i went because I feel helpess just sitting at home worrying. This way I am doing everything I can.

Hey mellybel, im so glad to hear yours has gone now. Did they tell you what they thought it was? I have done so much googling today as you can imagine and i get very mixed answers. Like the Dr said to me tonight, she said she has seen woman with a heavy bleed and have been absolutely fine, then she has seen woman who have had one tiny spot of blood and miscarried so it is so hard to say. Every body is so different.

Welcome Ashi! Can't wait to get to know you more as our pregnancies progress :) I know what you mean about feeling like a newbie, and my little boy is only 2! This pregnancy so far has been so incredibly different so for me it is all new in a way.

RTT- I am so sorry to hear what you are going through. I know everyone says spotting & bleeding in early pregnancy is common but I've been there and know that it doesn't stop you from worrying :hugs: I'm glad you went to the hospital and that you can have a scan done tomorrow. I'll be thinking of you xoxo

mrsmov- how exciting buying your pram already! You certainly are organised. So far I've bought nothing for this baby  Might need to start buying a few things soon. Even if we have another boy I will need all new newborn clothes because Mason was born in winter and this one will be the middle of summer. It's very exciting, I can't wait to go on a shopping spree!

How is everyone feeling tonight? I have been so sick this afternoon/tonight but no actual vomiting. I wish I would though because I would probably feel better if I could. I am also so tired and my whole body is aching like I'm getting the flu or something.

Do you think 7.5 weeks is too early for clothes to be tighter or am I just a fatty because of all the junk I've been eating??

This is excellent news! For me my hcg levels were an indication that everything was ok despite the bleeding. I'll be keeping everything crossed that your little one is going strong :fingerscrossed:

I was quite sick this afternoon. Blurghhh.

And I am in maternity pants already. I can still get my normal pants done up but they just get too uncomfortable by the end of the day. I am HUGE. No weight gain yet though which is odd given what I look like.

I'm thinking I need to invest in some maternity pants. To be honest I'd be happy to hang out in my PJ pants all day and never leave the house :o

I have said all along I won't be finding out the sex of this bub but now I'm starting to think I will... it will make shopping so much more fun LOL.

With DS#1 at 10 weeks I had a LOT of bright red blood over 2 days he is almost 3 now and perfect. With the MC I had in Feb I had no bleeding at all I thought everything was fine until I went for my 10week OB app and was told bub had past at about 7 weeks. I no it hard not to worry but do try.

Hey ladies - how are we all feeling today?

Its raining (just for a change) here today and i woke up feeling like a truck had run over me! So i figured i best stay home and rest - i think i did wayy too much over the w/e :o

Im going in for the blood test today for the 1st part of the NT test - then next tuesday i have the scan!

Im just praying that we see a little heartbeat in there because (sorry if im repeating myself!) at my first scan, there was only the two sacs visible - that was 5w 2d. So we are hanging to see a heartbeating :).

Hey how is every1 today? hope your all doing well.
Just a Q: if you have a scan done at 7week can u still get the 12 week scan? Or would they just do a blood test?
Im 9wks 3 days today and i dont feel as bloated nomore? Only after i eat. Can this be normal? Im trying not to worry.
I had a dream the other night i went to my ultrasound to check the babys sex and as ive been thinking girl they said BOY! So now im thinking ill be having a Boy! DF thinks we will have a boy, time will tell.
House inspection tomorrow! Yay! NOT!
Also still in the process of packing for our move, we arn't moving till after tax time now. But we cant wait!
Hope all that are getting scans done today and soon goes well.

readytotry...good luck with you scan today. Hope it's all good news!!

Bec&Bel...by 12 week scan, do you mean an NT scan? Or just a routine scan? NT scan...yes, definately. Not sure about a routine scan...unless you're at risk of miscarriage or something, they might just wait till your 20 week scan to do another one (unless you organised one privately).

Maternal serum blood tests are taken at approx 10 weeks, irrespective of whether you have a scan or not.

Ashi...welcome and congratulations :)

Melly_bel...glad everything is ok for you now

RTT...good luk for your scan today, it's good news that your bloods and hcg were all good

Mrsmamo..good luck for your scan today

Becandbel..I have also been a bit concerned that my tummy has been smaller the last 2 days than it was before  I was getting really big last week and now it has all gone, hope everything is ok!

My morning sickness has been a lot better the last 2 days and boobs not as sore which is a bit of a worry, with my first 3 pregnancies the sickness was really bad right up to 13/14 weeks and i'm only just 7 weeks today and feel so much better the last 2 days. Pregnancy is SO damn stressful!!

Good luck to those of you having scans today :fingerscrossed:

I am having my BT done this week (as part of the NT screening) I will probably go on thursday. The scan is in 2 weeks.

I think I am feeling some fluttering, is it too early at 10 weeks? It's when I lay flat on my back in bed very still. I can feel like a slight tapping under the skin very low down. It's always in the same place, but could be wind I suppose.

I'm not buying anything for bubs until we know the sex. If it's a boy we won't need that much and I have quite a few neutral things anyway. I'd love to buy some girlie clothes though :p

The BT is optional, just makes the whole screening more thorough. You can have the scan by itself which is what many people do :)

Sorry...my post was wrong. MSS is done at around 10 weeks. With or without an NT scan (ie you don't need to have the scan or you can have it in conjunction with the scan). My ob is also getting me to have routine bloods at the same time...iron, STDs, etc...I was getting the two forms mixed up...ooops!

Hi ladies,

I am going to bite the bullet and join in on the chat! :D I'm undercover due to being cr@p scared of miscarriage.... so once it's revealed everything will be ok I'll come out!

My m/s is kicking in of late.... smells are really getting to me... and the thought of food alone makes me want to chuck... so the huge belly I had last week is non existant now! I'm on dry bread... it's about all I can bare to think to eat.

I'm on holiday at the moment and flying back up home on Saturday.... dreading it if the m/s starts to get even worse though! :( so once I am home I'll well and truely be back into the chat!

Looking forward to getting to know you all though! :D

I just got back from the ultrasound and the bub is still there. The little heart was beating away - but that is about all I know. I will phone the GP in an hour or so for results. My EDD has changed and is now at 30th Jan.
Anyway, I just have to take it easy (not easy to do when we move house on thursday) and rest until the bleeding stops completely.

Thanks for your support ladies

Hello all :)

Just got back from my first scan, and everything seemed to look great! My ovaries looked good, she looked at my kidneys, they looked good, but most importantly there was a little embryo with a very strong heart beat on the screen! Ladies I nearly cried when I saw it. This is my first pregnancy and seeing my babies little heart fluttering away really got to me, made it all so real! My dates are pretty much spot on. She did say that bleeding this stage in pregnancies is quite common. She said my body is trying to make a placenta and everything is attaching to my uterus and it can happen that there may be blood. Today my brown seems to have stopped, I think, it is definitley a lot less to almost gone, phew.
Thank you all for the well wishes, your all so kind and like a rock and really help when times get rough so thank you! I have a print out of my babies first pic so I will try and take a photo of it and post it later. Thank you all again :hugs:
