Hi all,
I'm thinking of branching out into party plan. Currently i'm a herbalife distributer which generally is a direct selling company. however i find i like parties much better and people get to actually taste and use the products first.

i guess i'm after some feedback- if you were invited to one- honestly, would you go?? if it was about nutrition and weight loss etc, would you go or try to get out if it?

same question for a skin care party where you all try the products on your face first- would you go or try to get out of it?

thanks so much in advance!!

Emma.

Hi emmas, sorry to be another "no way", but you said you wanted honest opinions.

I know there are people out there who are successfully running these businesses, so I am sure it is possible. I think it depends on where you live and what kind of network you have. I think most people rely heavily on family and friends at the start to get the ball rolling. Do you have people around you that can support you at the start?

Good luck! :)

Unless it's a really good girlfriend having the party (and it is important to her that I'm there), I wouldn't go.

I find that there's too much pressure and sometimes end up buying something I don't want just so I get 'something'. Then getting pushed to hold your own party or even join the business, no - not for me.

Sorry I can't be more positive !

I go to these kinds of parties because the hostess says something like "I need people there" and then I end up buying stuff so the hostess gets her free gift or discounted clothes or whatever. I always regret buying the stuff, because I would never have spent that much money if I was at a shop.

hi guys,

thanks so much for your replies. it doesn't matter that none were positive!! it just helps that maybe i'll find another way and won't put so much effort into it.

thanks again!

I guess it depends on what your selling!
I have been thinking about getting into the learning ladder, they sell kids educational stuff.
I know I would buy a heap of it.
One thing that is holding me back is how much money do u make selling this stuff??
Do u have to do 50 parties before you make a decient living?

well i guess it depends on what you are selling. most party plans have a commission around 30%. I know with Herbalife, becaues it's a direct selling company, i actually make 50% profit adn i can sell via party plan or just advertising. with party plan, you are limited to just parties. (correct me if i;m wrong anyone!!)

so i guess it depends on how much time you have to spend doing parties- some make around $300- $500 in sales and you then get about 30% minus any expenses. they all vary from each company. so if you do one party a week you could earn $90-$150 or more.

you also need to think about the product you are selling. the ones that go the furtherst are those that are consumable ie- chocolaholics, you eat that so you need to keep reordering, herbalife the same, but with tupperware for example, the product has a lifetime guarantee so one person can only order so much.

anyway, sorry for the ramble!

I am a TLC Scrapbook consultant and we make 40%. I have been doing this since August last year but have only done 2 parties. Both were successful, but as i dont like going to parties, i dont really like doing them either...tho i will if asked. I just hold an open scrap once a month and invite everyone and if people buy they buy, if they dont, they dont........if they just sit and scrap all day, then i am happ. I am making my money thru recruiting other consultants....especially those who do like doing parties....lol.....

ok, so what about an E-Party?? This is a online thing hosted via messenger and an online catalogue. This was there is no pressure to buy, you play games online (only if you want to) and you can feel more comfortable sitting your jamies with a glass of wine!

ideas on that one?? would you sign up for that one if invited??

PS_ thanks so much for your input guys, this is really valuable for me. Much appreicated:yelclap:

If it is a party where they are selling things that i am really interested in buying then i will go, if not i dont, because i end up spending money on stuff i wouldnt normally buy.
