After being to see several specialists I have some very big decisions to make.. I dont really want to go into the nuts and bolts of it here...
and I know this is a very personal decision BUT
If you were told that if you had a future pregnancy you had a 20% chance of a Hysterectomy and a
1% chance of dying
would you do it ???????????
For me, it would depend if I already had a child. If I didn't and my partner agreed I would take the chance. However I have a DS I adore and couldn't take any chance that my decision could lose him his mummy.
The 20% hysterectomy chance I could live with but I'd probably want a second and third opinion on what that 1% chance of dying was based on.
Just my personal thoughts and wouldn't judge anyone for reaching a different conclusion.

if i didnt already have children, i would discuss it with my partner because it should be a joint decision how would your husband feel if you feel pregnant gave birth and died, what would happen to your children or if you didnt have children what would happen to the newborn how would your hubby feel if you died.
1% is slim and if you have children a hysterectomy isnt a massive biggy if you feel your family is complete.
you and your Dh need to sit down and make a list of the pro's and con's and decide from there
good luck with whatever you choose

I could live with a hysterctomy, and you know what, 1% is pretty small..I would get second and third opinions on that to be sure though.

Hi Overboard,
It would depend on if it was for my first child or 2nd or 3rd. I would probably do it. The technology now a days is great and as far as i'm concerned a hysterectomy isn't the end of the world. No need to worry about birth control and no more periods. Also you could get hit by a car crossing the road (What i mean is - There is risk in everything that we do)
This is just my opinion

If my partener agreed i would do it! I know you have a 1% chance of dying but there is still a 99% Chance that you won't!

I personally wouldn't if I was already a mummy. But I would support the decision of any woman who wanted to.
My sister went through something similar but her chances of dying were much higher. It was very difficult but she decided that she already had 2 children and needed to make sure she was around for them in the future. It continues to be a painful reality for her though.

thank you all for your thoughts.
It will be a hard decision which ever one I make.
I feel for your sister Goldleader , I too have two children but always wanted more. I know how extremely lucky I am and the thought of them growing up without a mother is unbearable, HOWEVER , the thought of never being pregnant or holding my new born baby or loving another child again is also unbearable for me.
