I was reading in a fertility book last night about a lymph gland you can feel enlarged on the side the egg is released from around ovulation time.... does anyone else know much about this?

I was reading in bed and based on the diagram felt where the gland was and i could feel them on both sides however the right side was definately bigger then the left. I am trying to put together all the signs that i am displaying to see if i ovulated as i dont have allot of CM signs and my BBT chart isnt perfect (we BD to TTC last night for the first time :smiliedance: just incase).
My BBT went down then rose to higher than i have recorded before, although went down a bit again today (see FF chart link), i had clear CM yesterday morning, stringy creamy on Saturday (which i used to get while on the pill once a month so im hoping that is a sign my body is returning to normal), so I wondered if perhaps the gland was another positive sign..?

Here is a link to some more information and a diagram for checking the glands:
http://www.woomb.org/bom/lit/teach/reprodhealth.html (scroll down to 'Management' and there is an explination and a diagram)

It basically says: The Lymph Node Sign is helpful in about 75% of cases. Around ovulation a lymph gland in the groin on the same side as the ovulating ovary enlarges to about the size of a pea and becomes tender when pressed. Daily examination of this gland will reveal the increase in size and tenderness. This is best done lying down with fingers straight, and pointing to the leg, so that the middle finger can feel the pulsating artery to the leg. The index finger will then be over the gland.

That lymph gland thing sounds like complete nonsense to me. The lymph from the ovaries only very rarely even goes to the groin area, so it's not even logical I'm afraid.

However, the thermal shift of a rising temperature after ovulation is a much better marker of ovulation. It's only about 75% accurate, but that's pretty good. Looking at your chart I'd say ovulation is on it's way ... maybe your temp is up this morning or tomorrow morning? I understand your frustration ... I didn't O until Day 23 this month, but last month it was Day 13!

sounds interesting, i dunno if its just me but around the time im ovulating my ovary on the right side is really sore, so there could be some truth to it. i've never felt down there though

yep, some people get pain on the side of the tummy where the egg is being released. I always thought this was on the day of ovulation, but apparently it's up to 48 hours before ovulation. if you get that pain it's a good predictor too.
