 Hi anyone and everyone,

Our 11 month old has decided that when it comes to his morning sleep that he will stand and cry instead. My wife is becioming frustrated as he seems to go to sleep no problems on the w/end when I put him down.

It appears to have started when he began to be able to pull himself to a stand :) yeah you would think for this momentus occasion but he seems to be able to get up but not get down.

So our problem is that he won't sleep in the morning even though dead tired, but will sleep after lunch feed only because he is so tired.

Has anyone had anything similar?

Thanks :)

I remember having a very grumpy tired bub from about 12 months to 14 months when she finally dropped her morning nap for good. Over that time it was hit or miss as to whether she'd sleep or not. I basically threw our previous routine out the window and tried to stay flexible. It makes it hard to plan anything (like grocery shopping!) but we were both happier without schedules to meet. There's just so much going on for them to be interested in.

Maybe you and your wife could sit down and compare what the routines are like on the weekend versus a week day. Being out and about on a saturday might tire him out more so he's ready for a nap, or does he play more actively with you on the weekend as opposed to your wife during the week? If the weather co-operates then a trip to the park on a weekday morning or even toddling around the lounge might help. You might also have slightly different routines for putting him down.

Your wife might also try moving lunch time a bit earlier so that he eats and goes to sleep a little earlier.

Hope you find something that helps, it should settle back down again soon too.
