My 2 and 1/2 yr old son suffers from eczema and after 2yrs I finally got the docotors at our hospital to do an allergy test as I knew his eczema was caused by more then just dustmites. Anyway we got the results back and yes he's allergic to most things but the test only covered a few groups and the doctor said he's a very allgergic child and its a 2 yr wait to see their allergist.
I would like to get the food allergies test looked into more and Im not sure who to go to and am a bit worried about having the skin prick test done.
Does anyone know of a good allergist in the Brisbane area? It would be nice if we could get my son's skin to a more normal level and find out what else he cant eat!

It is a very long wait. I think your friend Carrie just pm'd me.

I see dr peter smith at southport. I cant find his number for the life of me I will keep looking and pm it to carrie asap

I got in within 10 weeks although I think the reason we got in so quickly was because our DD was not eating at all.

I think you just need to get a referral and get your appointment then keep calling and pestering them.;)

I know Dr Peter smith is fantastic and highly recommended by others.

The skin prick test is not scary at all. my 6month old at the time, was fine she just sat and watched. it does not hurt them.

They get itchy or swell in the spot if they react to something.

good luck and i will keep searching for his number.

Thanks for that, I may try and do a search for him on the net too.

I dont understand why his doc at the hospital didnt give us a referral to someone else.............I just get the same old story with them.

Does your DD suffer from eczema as well?

Thanks again.:)
