Anyone know when you are supposed to allow a bub toothpaste? I suppose my little boy is no longer a baby (16 months) but I'm not sure whether he is allowed toothpaste yet. I seem to recall reading somewhere that they shouldn't have it before two years.
So far I have just let him 'brush' with water. Any answers?

Oh ... and just a tip for mums whose babies/toddlers don't like brushing... I discovered that if I put a tiny scrap of freezing cold water in a cup and then dip the toothbrush in he is happy to have me brush his teeth or to try and brush them himself. Must soothe the gums.

They say not to use toothpaste until they can sit it out. DS is 4 and still won't spit it out but we use it. The paed dentist said its not a huge worry that they don't spit the tiny bit you use out. We always used the oral b stage toothpaste which goes up to 6 years but doesn't have a recommended starting age on it. Now we're on the macleans milk teeth which says from 1-6 years.

Yeah not until they can spit it out. DS is 22 months and we have just started using the colgate first toothpaste (low fluoride). I use the tiniest amount every 2-3 days and just use the toothbrush without any on the other days
