I am going insane here and can't take much more of this. DD id nearly five months old and very attached to her dummy. She needs it to go to sleep.

The problem is is that as soon as she gets through a sleep cycle and is aware that her dummy isn't in her mouth she wakes up and starts screaming. She sleeps no longer than 2 hours at a time because of this and mostly it's just in 40 min cycles.

When I am trying to resettle her I have to hold the dummy in place because it keeps falling out. She has a weird suck sometimes, it's like a gaping, open mouth suck.

Has anyone gotten rid of their DC's dummy at this age? How did you go about it and how did the baby cope?

i got rid of my DS dummy when he was 8 months so a little bit older.. He kept throwing it out of the cot and i had to keep going in to pick it up. so i decided to get rid of it and it was the best decision i have made.. the first day he cried for about 5 mins and then went to sleep and slept for 2.5 hours instead of an hour and that was it never cried for it after that day..

I'm having that agnst myself when to take my DS dummy away his 11mths old, he needs it to sleep aswell. But he doesnt drop it or anything during the night but he just wont fall asleep without it.
I don't know when to take it away from him, I have taken it away during waking hours and it took days of him cracking it until he was use to it.
