DH wants to see about getting circumcised

Im just wanting some advice. DH who is 25, is going to talk to our GP about getting a referal to see someoen about getting circumcised, we have been told limited Dr's will do it cos of his age. DH feels (like some circumcised men do) that he had no say in wether he was or wasnt & for a long time didnt no about it as his whole family are not circumcised but now he knows he would like to get it done.
Also how much would we be looking at paying? Would recovery be longer being older? would there be a lot more pain? will it affect our sex life long term?

Why does he want it done, does he get a lot of infections, that's usually the only reason it's done in men ??

apparently sex is better with foreskin so talk him out of it lol

I guess all he can do is talk to the doctor about why he wants to get it done. If it is elective he might be in for a wait on the public lists though as it would be a cosmetic surgery. Depending on your state they may not do it in the public system anyway.

A good GP shoule refer him to a free counsellor first, if not being performed for serious medical condition, as an underlieing prob of self esteem or similiar will not be solved by an irriversible surgery.

Also, think about if/when you have sons, will you also want them done, if it is just cosmetic?

my dad has a friend who was circ'd as an adult due to infections and he says sex was much better BEFORE!

I have also read that sex is better with a foreskin. Goodluck to him if he really really wants it though OUCH.:dizzy:

I wasnt looking for people to talk us out of it. His mind is made up & yes he has got some quite nasty infections & there is also a religious aspect that Id rather not comment on so its not purely cosmetic. And even before we married when I found out DH wasnt circumcised we discussed future male children then and there and he is very much wanting any to be circumcised as am I.
