Hi all,
2 years ago and 5 months after my DD was born I suffered a brain hemmorage after an aneursym ruptured, the aneursym was coiled and had surgery in Feb this year to re-coil but was not successful however surgeon said it was 'satisfactory' and I should be ok if I was to get pregnant but would have to have a c-section which is fine, however I cannot have my blood pressure go up (how do I manage that?) through out the pregnancy, I had high but not dangerous blood pressure with my 1st. The surgeon has given me until July 09 to get pregnant because I have to have the surgery again.
I am pregnant and due in January, my GP commented that I am very brave and wishes me well??

I had a miscarriage at xmas last year after reaching 3 months.

The question I have does anyone know of or have experienced a brain hemmorage and gone on to have a successful pregnancy/birth?

Hi and congratulations on your pregnancy.

I am a bit disappointed in your GP's reaction, surely they should be giving you more information and assistance than wishing you luck?

I think the key issue for you is just to make sure that your blood pressure remains stable and does not go high. Although it can happen anytime in pregnancy, it is usually the last trimester when blood pressure can go high.

In my opinion, if I was you, I woudl be buying a blood pressure monitor from the chemist and measuring it once daily until later in the pregnancy and then 2-3 times daily once I reached the third trimester. Your GP can tell you what the safe levels are. I think they cost around $100-150 but not sure. They are pretty easy to use, get them to show you how in the chemist.

As you would know, high blood pressure can make the aneurysm burst and kill you. (Not wishing to scare you). But it is very important to keep your blood pressure OK.

I woudl also look up the symptoms of high blood pressure and leaking aneurysms and get to the hospital if I had any. I think they would include severe headache, numbeness, tingling, visual changes.

As you may know, aneurysms can leak before they actually rupture so you can get warning signs first.

I am guessing that the hospital will tell you all this when the pregnancy is a bit more advanced?

PS I can't think of any medical way the aneurysm would cause miscarriages so I don't think the aneurysm will affect your pregnancy, just that pregnancy could affect you blood pressure and the aneurysm (if you know what I mean)

Wow you have just made my problems seem non existant. How much are you going through girl. Do you have a specialist that you saw about the brain operation etc? They would proberbly have a better idea than just a regular gp if thats who you have been seeing. Him saying your going to have to keep your blood pressure down...well you can only do your best cant you and there are meds to help if they do get too high. Just really take good care of yourself because your going to need to rest up. You have a long road ahead of you. I hope all goes really smoothly for you and your fine. Good luck xx :flowerz:
