Hi All,

I am holding a small birthday party for my daughter and the kids in my gymbaroo class who are aged between 7 months and 11 months the day before my daughters actual birthday.

How can I entertain the kids (do we just put them on the floor together and let them play as they are so young and what should I do for the food stuff for the adults. Do i just do dips, cerely, olives, carrots etc or do i do a cake and sing happy birthday.

Has anyone else done this for their child and what did you do. This is my first time.

I look forward to hearing everyone suggestions.

Cheers
Shel

for both my dds 1st birthday parties, I had it downstairs (99% of the girls toys are down there) and set it up so all the little kids could go nuts, and not hurt them or anything of mine, (except fofr the food table in the corner) -
on which I had, fairy bread, cheerios, mixed sandwiches with both adult and kids stuff on them, like egg and lettuce and vegimite, I had a fruit platter, lollies, piklets, fairy cupcakes, chips and dip. all sort of nibble food,

it is a kids party, and I said nibble food, it was not lunch or anything, and it seemed to go down ok

First of all...Yes i would definately do a cake and sing happy birthday! You can't have a birthday party without cake:p

I would just have lots of toys and books out for the bubs to play with and let the crawl around on the floor together. I think they're too young to really do any activities or games with.

As for the food side of it....I would do sangwiches, dips, cob loaf, any finger foods would be great.

Are you going to do some food for the bubs?

I would do fairy bread, even the little ones would be able to try it. maybe some fruit or cheese & crackers?

I'm sure your dd will have a blast no matter what you do or serve!

Good luck with it!

Thanks everyone for your suggestions.

Mumof4Monsters:
Regarding Food for adults - my thoughts were dip, celery sticks, carrot sticks, olives etc. I hadn't thought about cheese and crackers but could probably do them. As it is probably only going to go for 1-2 hours because some mums will have to pick their other kids up from school, i wasn't sure about doing a cake and whether if i did whether it would be too much having this other food as well as the cake (iykwim)

Regarding food for bubs:
I wasn't really thinking of doing something for them because I thought most of them would be too young.

However, I am going to ask a stupid question here - what is fairy bread; is it bread with those hundred and thousands ontop or am i thinking of something else.

Cheers
Shel

Hi Shel:wave:

Yep fairy bread is just bread with 100's and 1000's....it's yummo! Oh and i guarantee if you do make the fairy bread, the mums will eat more of it than the kids:laughing:

Yep i totally understand about the food. So i take it you're having it at around 1ish in the arvo? At that time most people would have eaten lunch, so yeah probably don't need to put much on in the way of food.

I think the dip and celery and nibblies will be fine. (i was thinking of a lunchtime party for some reason):o

Personally, i would still do a cake....any excuse for a cake:thumbsup: but thats up to you.
