Because I am an older mother (nearly 38) my GP has recommended that I have a nuchal translucency scan. I have been referred to the Wesley in Brisbane for it to take place in a few weeks. My only query is - how much is it likely to cost, just so I have saved up?
Anyone else had one and been glad they did? I know its non invasive.
Thanks all;)

I had it done, and from memory it cost around $200 and about half was refundable through medicare.....
Being younger I was a lower risk category anyway... but I was of the opinion better safe than sorry.... hope no-one takes that the wrong way!

hi i had mine and it was about $190 and covered by medicare i was also young but they like to do due to risks i guess and it was great you got to see baby really well but the only bad thing was it took 5 hours because baby was wrong way and would not move we tried everything but she did not want to roll over
I had it, it cost about $200 and it was just an excuse to see bubby again really!!
I get some back but I haven't put my form in yet.
I didn't get the blood test, just the scan

Mine from the wesley was $150, I got $50 back on medicare.
Mine was a bit weird tho', bubs was small for the dates so she was only 10 weeks, thus unable for it to be a Nuchal. I think it was still billed as the same tho'
(and yeh, as Shed said.. it was just an excuse to see her!)

Thanks to you all for that. I thought it would be around $200, but I was so unsure I needed reassurance. I will be having the bloods done too, but I know they are bulk billed through QML. (At least something is free!!!!) :smiliedance:
Good luck to you all.:D
