Hoping someone can help me,

I lost the book that came with my son's car seat, and i need to know what age or weight you can use the forward facing position?

He is 6 months and weighs 7 kilos.

Can anyone please help?

It goes on weight and not age. It is generally 9kg before you can face the seat forward - look on the side of the car seat it should tell you there also. My son is 4months and only 5.2kg so he has to face backwards for sometime, I just give him some toys to amuse him. The worst is the sun in his eyes at times, I do my best to shade him if I can.

Hope this helps:)

Thanks for that, I think I'll wait until he is 8 kilos.
Happy Easter!!!

most car seats are 8kgs forward. alot of people go the age as well the weight. when they can hold their head up well then they turn. but i think it is best to get the weight first then the head.

My daugther faced forward from about 5 months...but she was a fatty.

I really don't think it should go on weight, because my daughter was at the same developmental level as any other child her age...she was just bigger in weight (she was born at nearly 5kg...).

A lot of car seats have a forward-facing position which has a slight recline (Well, my 2 carseats do anyway...you can forward face in 2 positions).

I would think that if your child is able to hold his head up quite well for long periods of time, and you feel he is "ready" for the forward facing position, then I'd test him on the recline position. Just for a short drive. He'll let you know if he's not into it.

It is MUCH safer to keep them in rearward facing as LONG as possible. If your carseat says rearward facing til 9kg.. don't turn before then. If your carseat is a convertible one which goes to 12kg.. dont turn before then! Regardless of how strong you think your bub is, in an accident its never going to be strong enough.

DS was in his CAPSULE until he was 18 months because hes always been so tiny and that only holds up to 9kg bubs, when he was 2 and 10kg - then in a forward facing position in convertible seat I was told to turn him around to rearward facing again because the seat can hold up to 12kg. Which I did for about 2 months until he was really kicking up a storm about it.

DD is 9.5 months and almost 9.5kg and she is still in rearward facing position as well.

there has been a LOT of research done on this topic and I'm certain if you did a google search on it you would find a hundred reasons why you should not turn them before the recommended weight as a minimum.

If you have a big bub then I'd make sure you have a convertible one that can be rearward facing til 12kg.
