We are begining to TTC however I am a little worried about the affect of physical activity may have early on before I know I am pregnant. Can this affect the implantation stage or the early stages?

I go to the gym 4 times a week currently. Twice for weights sessions with my Personal Trainer and twice for cardio classes. All sessions pretty much get my heart rate up to 80-90% of my max (i think during pregnancy in the 2nd and 3rd trimesters you have to stay below 60%). The weights sessions can be pretty strenious and one cardio class (Body Combat) has allot of jumping around (the other class is cycling).

I really dont want to cut this down until I have to (until i am pregnant) as we all know it can take months of trying, however I dont want to ruin my chances of the egg implanting and a successful early pregnancy (and beyond).

Can anyone help me with this? :(

I have been told that doing exercise etc is beneficial when ttc AND when pg! My dr strongly recommends it!

Besides you think about it the healthier you are the healther your eggs are! iykwim!

Obviously I would be watching the junk food intake too, but if your going to the gym I would say you would be doing that already!;)

Thanks Oscar's Mum, I heard that its still essential to exercise but you have to keep the intensity down... I guess I am being silly thinking that me jumping around will impact the implantation of the egg or something... :o

Yeah, I dont eat junk food at all really, apart from the odd bit of chocolate or small piece of birthday cake on occasion (you cant say no to birthday cake, its rude! :D )

OMG you definately cannot say no to b'day cake that is absolutely the height of rudeness!;)

As far as I know I think you can keep the intensity of the exercise up until 12 weeks after that the uterus has moved out of your pelvis and isn't protected any more!

I agree - implantation has nothing to do with the exercise you are doing externally - but has to do with the right 'conditions' on the inside. Sounds like you are doing really well with you exercise regime - keep up the good work and best wishes while TTC

I swam distance with TTC each time, and swam laps (multiple kilometres) before labour on the day I had each of my 3 bubs.

I also did Latin ballroom dancing exams while TTC and up to 34 weeks with #2.

I posted this question too and was relieved with the answer I got from a personal trainer - http://www.bubhub.com.au/community/forums/showthread.php?p=145320
