Ok I have asked my 2 bridesamaids to be my bridesmaids.....

So 1 is tall and 1 is really short......

Does it matter if they have different style dresses to suit them??

Can anyone share some experience with this??

Did your bridesmaids wear the same style dresses or different dresses in the same colour???

And did they pay for them, pay half or pay nothing?????

HHHEEEELLLLLPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!

OK my SIL had the same problem. They were both about the same size but 1 was really short and the other one really tall. The short one looked fine in the dress but the tall....it didn't suit here. I've seen on several occasions where they have the same material but different dresses to suit their figures. I myself only had one bridesmaid (officially anyway) and then my SIL was DH attendent but they wore the same dress. That was their choice though. And they paid for it themselves.

But I see nothing wrong with them being dressed differently.

It's very common these day for the maids to have different styles. They'll appreciate you respecting their differences and tastes and they'll be happy and comfortable on the day.

I have 2 bridesmaids and they are in the same dress, same colour, same fabric - everything. This is because they both suit the dress etc and I'm glad of it cos I did want them in the same dress.

They are paying for the dresses though and I made sure it was a dress they would wear again and I gave them the opportunity to tell me what they really thought of it. If they hated it, we would have gone for a different dress.

The boys are also paying for their suit hire but we will be buying their ties and pocket hankies for them.

Yes - but I only had 2, so I thought it would have looked a little odd if they were wearing different dresses. Plus both bridesmaids were my sisters, were of a size, exactly the same height - and both suited the dress.

If I'd had a short/tall dilemma I possibly would have looked at having them made so they could be tailored to each individual body shape/size.

My girls dress is knee length at the front and a little longer at the back.

We're having a garden wedding so don't want it too formal although the boys are wearing 4 piece tail suits

LOL so are mine!! Ask your girls if they'll be comfortable wearing black, I couldn't have put mine in black as it would have completely washed them out.

Mine wore dresses the same colour but in a shape that flattered their figures. One was a 16-18 and one was a 6-8. So I think it's important they are comfortable.

Thats what I was thinking too....as the short one is a surfie chick so some colour, the other (tall) is pale...

But they are still very white....and with blonde hair, I am thinking in a graden full of colour it may make them look blah too.....

So many bloody descisions....lol...what happened to simple....

I had 3 bridesmaids and a maid of honor so 4 all up, my 3 bridesmaids were all petite very similar figures, maid of honor was more curvy.

The dress that the bridesmaids looked best in did NOTHING for my poor maid of honor so I just told her to find something she liked in red, any shade of red.

She got a burgundy dress (Darker shades work with her skin tone better) made especially, similar to the other bridesmaids just a few changes to flatter her shape. Looked really good.

We supplied dresses for the bridesmaids, and yes they all wore the same, BUT...

Im becoming a huge fan of the bridesmaids wearing different dresses in the same material. I think its looks really nice too! :)

I had four bridesmaids and they all wore the same colour in different styles. One would not wear skirts so she had a trouser style one was nine months pregnant (gave birth 5 days later), one was a 16 and the other an 8. So very different but in the photos you hardly notice as each had a style to suit. I must admit it was hard to find a pattern that suited all but I managed.

i dont have time to read all the replies as DD and DS are waking up - however, in reply to the original post...
I fell in love with a black and pale pink strapless dress but they had only one left, so 1 of my bridesmaids wore it. (besides it wouldn't have suited the other 2) then i was lucky enough to find a completely different style dress with sleeves that came int he some pink and a black, so my other 2 bridesmaids wore one of these each...
hope this helps!

I had 5 bridesmaids! I chose the fabric with the Main One - we bought the material and they got their dresses made in a style they wanted. It ended up that 3 of them were in the same style dress with different lengths, and the other 2 were completely different! Oh yeah, and one of them got a new tattoo on her shoulder about a week before the wedding - I don't think she was thinking about it as then she felt a bit funny before we left for the church. I didn't mind though.
They all looked great, and they got a dress they liked.

I had 2 Bridesmaids 1 was my good friend & the other was a 10yr old girl I was a nanny for in America when she was just little. They had the same fabric & the same design but the 10yr old had little thin straps on her dress & my friend had strapless...they also both wore silver shoes but my friend had heels & the 10yr old had little strappy sandals.
Maybe get the same fabric but different designs to suit.

Oh & I paid half for the dresses & gave them a really special gift(jewellery but not to wear on the day)

i had my 2 teenage dsd's (14 &15 at the time), my sister (23) and my bestie (25 - and 8 months pregnant)

i got them the same dress in the same colour because it was a style that suits everyone reasonably well and it was easy to alter to hide a preggy belly. my mum did the alterations and because we got heaps of extra material she made my 2year old dd a matching dress. they all looked terrific.

i payed for all the dresses as my pressie to them. i also got them cheap matching jewellery from diva too.

i think that with only 2 bridesmaids to have them in either matching dresses in different colours or different dresses in the same colour would look great.

Keep it coming...What colours would best suit blondes????

Almost anything..red....hot pink....chocolate.
Are you going to go with the same color scheme for the whole wedding based on the bridesmaids dresses?

The wedding cake is having a dark chocolate icing, with bright vibrant flowers over it...in like a bunch....that flows down a bit....

For the reception.....The table decos, we are having glass candle holders, hard to describe, but the candles sit inside of them...heart shape...

Pink and red heart balloons....and that is as far as we/I have got with plans...

I like the idea of chocolate with a touch of colour, or even the flowers to add that touch of colour...

I dont know about carrying on the colour scheme based on the bridesmaids dresses.... its a garden wedding, so not too much added extras.... and not sure about the reception yet....

So yeah I dont know if I would use the bridesmaids dresses to carry on a colour scheme, maybe use the cake to base the colour scheme on....dunno

I think you can do whatever you like, it is your wedding,

I have seen 3 different style dresses on 3 bridesmaids, all the same colour, looks great, I have also seen the same dresses but difefrent colours, looked great too, any lengh its up to you.

I paid half and my bridesmaids paid for half.

If your bridesmaids are pale skin, black might wash them out, so give them a spray tan

You could break up the black with a bright coloured ribbon/sash type thingy.

Well I have solved my problem, and have decided on Hot Pink dresses for the girls....

And putting them in the same style.... Just have to find them in the shop in the right colour at a cheapish price....Or find someone who knows how to sew to make them....

Having a dilemma with the shoes now though.....never ending...lol....

Do I put one in flat and one in heels, or both in flats, or???? Because of their size difference, or does it really matter???

My girls are wearing metallic silver strappy shoes - that's the only stipulation I've given them. They can choose the height of the heel and the actual design of them, as long as they are strappy.

I took insperation from that dress you posted, and that was what I had in mind already (before seeing that) just wasnt sure of a colour, and found another for my chickies....and I was saying to DF that the shoes were to be strappy...lol... But didnt know what colour, or heel size....ie flat or heeled....

Maybe we should get the dresses then decide, to let them see what the shoes will look like with the dress....

The dress I want, I was going to wear strappy shoes.....and wanted them to match....but yeah wasnt sure because of their height whether one in heels and one in flats....

Maybe I should let them decide......

Thanks again....lol....
