DP and I have been discussing our future, and when we would like to TTC. He would really like a baby next year (I'm still deciding by the way!)

I am currently on the pill (Norimin) and have been for 12 months, if we were to start TTC, when should I stop taking my pill to prepare my body?

I think we will be TTC a bit later on in the year and Im rather excited! I cant wait to be a mum!

Everyones body is different. My SIL come off the pill and got one regular cycle before falling pregnant. Others can take years for their body to do its job.

Not answering your q properly sorry

Best of luck with it all

Thanks heaps :D
I'm not sure when it will be yet, because I want to get a lot of things sorted first ie living arrangements etc! But it is in sight!

I think the average time frame is 1-6 months, but as others mentioned it varies for every person. Sometimes you dont even have to stop taking it to get pregnant :laughing:

Thanks heaps guys.
DP and I have to sort alot more out first before we ever consider it. I want to get perfect health too which means quitting smoking, losing at least 10 kgs etc

ahhh yes....but we love them all just the same don't we :D:p

OP, with DD1 i fell on the pill.
i went back on it and stopped taking it new years day last year and was pregnant by the end of the month.
i have a friend who has fallen about 8 months after stopping 3 times now.
it really does vary.
when i had stopped taking the pill on new years day with the intention of TTC in march, i too was going to give my body some 'time'...i guess it just didn't need it though.

if it were me i would stop taking the pill a few months before really TTC but still in a time frame that if you did have a slip up (like we did:cool:) you would still be prepared IYKWIM

BB - Sounds familiar! I went on a get fit journey for 12 months and lost 12 kilo, then went off the pill and fell PG straight away so sounds like a good plan!

I was on the pill for 8 years and took me 3 months to get AF back. They say anything up to 3 months is the norm. I would recommend allowing yourself at least 3 months, maybe even a little longer....:)

Hi all, this is my first post.
I went off the pill in Jan 07 and didn't get AF until Dec 07.... so very different for everyone.

Good luck with your journey, I hope it is quick.....:sunshine:

There is some suggestion that you're more fertile for 1 - 3 cycles after coming off the pill. I certainly wouldn't be coming off it to 'prepare' your body - I would advise staying on it until you're actually ready to become pregnant, otherwise you're quite likely to find yourself with an early surprise.

I fell pregnant with DS first cycle off the pill. With DD, I had been off it for a few months but fell the very first time we weren't completely careful. I plan to stop taking it again about 3 months before we start TTCing number 3.

This is actually what happened to us with DD. We planned to start TTCing the month after we found out I was pregnant. It was no big deal but DH was more than a little disappointed that he didn't get all the BDing he thought would come with TTC .

My DH has decided that the pill companies are liars when they say it could take a year.:laughing:

I was on the pill for 8 years before TTC #1 and came off it and fell pregnant that cycle. Same with #2 taking only 2 cycles and #3 was straight away as well. We are very fertile I think:laughing:Best of luck when you start TTC.

Hi there!
I have recently stopped the pill after 14 years on. Little did I know that it can takes months and sometimes even years for your body to regulate itself again and fall into its natural cycle. If I knew then what I know now I would have gone off the pill years ago. My advice is go off the pill now and use other types of contraception while you wait for your body to right itself. Then your body will be prepared for when you start TTC.

Good Luck:wave:

Best of luck to you.
