Well I'm not yet, but if all goes to plan :fingerscrossed: I will be anywhere up to 7 months pregnant in November. We have plans to drive to Albany (around 6 hours drive from Perth) for a show that my fiance is involved in in November this year.

I'm wondering what kinds of things to expect when travelling for that long in a car while pregnant. If you are, or have been, that far along in pregnancy have you travelled that far or would you consider doing it? Am I going to be a pain in the bum by having to pee all the time?

I've had all my bubs in January, and we have had a regular booking at a bed and brerakfast for New Years for YEARS and YEARS. The bed and breakfast is a 4 hour drive from home.

I found it OK, just the need for the odd extra potty stop. Each time I was between 34 and 37 weeks.

i did a fair bit of travelling in NZ in january... but I was only about 2-3 months along... i just had to remember to take heaps of dried fruit with me to nibble on and a few bottles of water and have regular rest stops... it gets abit tiring but i found it alright!

One extra concern I have is the fact that we will be car-pooling with someone else, who will be taking a cannon along with the trip (we do medieval re-enactments), and I'll be in the back seat as my fiance gets car sick. The guy who will be driving has gotten a new car since we last did the trip and I don't know how much space is in the back of it (or what the make of the car is, for that matter :) )

Although it is reassuring that I may not be a pain because of my bladder. I know that there will be stops along the way for lunch and to generally stretch peoples legs, so that part isn't going to be a problem. I just didn't want to be that one person who holds up a convoy of cars because they have to pee again. :D

Hiya

And we meet AGAIN:laughing:

When we went south for our wedding, I didnt have to stop anymore than anyone else, and I had a kidney infection at the time!!

I guess it depends on what stage in the pg you are and how much you drink and how the pg affects you....somedays Id be in the loo all day, others were normal.

Also if you are getting morning/afternoon sickness at that point (again depending on the day as to whether I did) the fiankee, sorry, will be hubby by then!! May have to deal with the back seat cos you might get sicker than him.

You're stalking me, aren't you? :p

I'm hoping that I won't be affected by the morning sickness. I don't generally get sick in the vomity kind of way so I'm hoping that'll be true for morning sickness too. If it does affect me, I doubt that I'd let him give up the front seat coz he's really terrible when he's in the back and I wouldn't want both of us to be suffering, then he wouldn't be able to look after me.

Depending on how fast youdrive you should be able to get to Albany in 4.5 hours from Aramadale (I lived down that way for long time)
There are lots of really good towns to stop at along they way which have great facilities
Here are some time estimates for you, if you drive at around 100-110kms

Armadale - Williams 1.5 hours
Williams - Kojonup 1 hour
Kojonup - Mt Barker 1 hour
Mt Barker - Albany 1 hour

Packing some extra cushions for your back/ tummy side support might help.

Hope you have fun in Albany. it is lovely down there...

I've been to Albany heaps of time and love it. Especially when they have the Highland Festival on (which is what we're going to be there for I believe). Men in kilts... :yelclap:

Mmmmm......men in kilts......Sorry, just got a bit diverted there! LOL:laughing:

I just thought I'd make you aware of a possibility - at about 7 months was when I started suffering very badly with sciatica and 1 hour straight in a car was hell, let alone any longer. I've heard of others experiencing pg induced sciatica too, so just be aware that you might be more uncomfortable than you think you'll be.

Anyway, good luck TTC - the man in the kilt might be able to help!!

I've got my own personal man in a kilt. Except he's asleep at the moment. :(

Thanks for the heads up though, looks like I've still got a lot more research to do. :)
