View Full Version : 5 months and Smelly!
Sorry to ask this question but my son is nearly 5 months old and he does a poo every morning and its of a watery/diarhoea consistency and it STINKS!!!
Does anyone else have this problem?? I know baby poo can smell but Baileys is so offensively smelly its not normal and even his farts smell so bad that I cant distinguish them between my husbands or my 5 month old son... Is that normal??
Any advice would be much appreciated!
Sorry if this is in the wrong section- wasnt sure where to put it.

Hrrmmmz this is a hard one but it may be because he has a little tummy bug.
Its hard to say really especially as if he is breastfed it may be because of something you have eaten.
If he is formula fed he may be starting to show an intolerance.
Id take him straight to the doctors but try to get a stool sample ( yes rather gross i know ! ) this way they can send it off to be tested etc.
Good luck :)
Have you considered that it might be related to teething.
DS started teething last week (sadly yes at 3.5mths), and when he was at his grizzliest his poo was rotten! I don't normally even smell it.
I've been told by heaps of different people that teething can affect the smell, consistency and frequency of their poos.
hi,
I would definitely take bubby to the doctor as it shouldn't be watery at all. It shouldn't matter if bub is fed breast or bottle. It could possibly be something that you ate if you are breastfeeding but still get it checked. I wouldn't worry about the smelly farts because both my boys stank when they were babies. the oldest was bottle fed from 8 weeks and the youngest is 6 mths anda booby boy.
good luck
Thank you all for your advice!
Bailey doesnt seem too bothered but maybe ill just take him in and have a check up with Dr. Cant hurt.
Will see how we go and let you know! Thanks heaps!
