I have two home made pockets (Thanks Phineas:D) and I'd love to get a couple more.

But, I don't know which brand is a good one.

What do you like and why?

How much is an ok amount to pay for a pocket?

What "stuffing" do you like and why?

Thanks so much!

I make my own AI2s as a preference but the pocket nappies I do have a Green Kids and Blueberrys and I use the Green Kids Bamboo inserts in both. IMO I have found Bamboo to be most absorbant

As for cost Green Kids are really quite reasonably priced $22-$25 (correct me if I'm wrong - been a a while since I've bought one), and blueberry one size vary between $36-$39 depending on where you buy them

 Green Kids are my fav pockets. The GK bamboo inserts are fabulous too. I have heaps of them & use them in all my pockets. They take longer to dry than other inserts but that is why I have heaps! :D

Regardless of the shell, I love the Green Kids bamboo inserts. I have a load of Green Kids Anytimes and Minkytimes and extra inserts.

I also love the Baby Beehinds Magicalls with the pocket.

I have a few Blueberries, that are cute, but don't really love their inserts. I now stuff them with GK inserts too.

I've got heaps of Baby Beehinds Magicalls, they're my "around the house" nappy. I love them, they are so absorbant but they just take so long to dry. I've also got a Starbunz AI2 which is great and dries quicker.

GK's here too! The hemp insert is good, but the bamboo is VERY absorbent! I usually have to add a booster for ds anyway, but I don't have to with the bamboo :yelclap:

I'm another fan of greenkids bamboo inserts and Greenkids minky times! I also LOOOVVE my blueberrys but I agree that their inserts aren't quite as nice as the GK ones.

Just for something completely different - NOT - I'm going to say Green Kids. Love em. Both the bamboo and hemp stuffing works for us.

AND they are excellent people to deal with - great customer service (call me old fashioned but that means something to me too when I'm investing $$ in a nappy stash).

Green Kids are way to wide across the crotch for my baby. :D

I love Blueberries but dont use their inserts either, have made my own.

^ I agree they are wide in the crotch but hasn't been a prob for us. They are still good but my preference would be Blueberrys as a fav

Thanks guys!

GKs look good, a bit pricey but it sounds like they're worth it. I might get a couple to start with and see how we go.

What do people think of Pea Pods?

I started with Pea Pods (just because they were locally available in a store). Wouldn't recommend the cover (we get *lots* of leaks and they've never successfully contained a poo-plosion on my DD) but the bamboo trifold insert is really good. I bought extra of the inserts and use them in my GK covers (when my GK inserts are drying). HTH.

I havent tried many pockets yet, but this is what I have triled.

Happy Hiney pocket:
Good fit and shape but the PUL outer is stiff and hard. I did not like it.

Peapods pockets:
Awsome nappy! Soft Outer, great fit. Super soaking and nice snap close. My fav pocket so far:)

Krap Katcher:
Awsome night nappy.

Bamboo pockets:
Great afternoon nappy. Trim and soft but will not hold much wee.

AIO with pocket:

Swaddlebees:
Jury is out on these. I will have to try a bigger one on DD to see.

Baby Beehinds:
Bestest of the best nappie. The only thing I could think of bad is maybe drying time is not quite as quick as other nappies. Small price to pay though......

I have tons of pocket nappies and here's my little 2c worth:

Peapods: good value for money, I dont' really like the shell, but I LOVE the insert. Red ones leak for me but the others are ok. Downside - it's a sized nappy so you'll need a new one when bubs is bigger.

Blueberry: Love this because it's a OSFM, and I like the minky. Downside - expensive (it's from US)

Bumgenius: I like that it's a OSFM, it fit my bub from 2nd week! It washes well too.

Haute: Lots of nice colours for this nappy! But after a few washes it has a "used" look, even though it works perfectly well. The inserts in these are really nice, I love them, especially on a newborn.

Happy Heiny: I only have the prints version (which is a day nappy). the inserts for it are expensive and it's a sized nappy which is a bummer. But it was on sale when i bought it :)

Greenkids: Love the inserts on these, a little bit pricey I thought, and it's OSFM which is also great. I find it bulky in the crotch though.

A 6 pack of Baby Beehinds magicalls is $135 which I think is really good value for an excellent AIO with optional pocket.

GK's are my all time favourite pocket.

I love BBH MagicAlls, but agree with a PP that they take ages to dry.

I have one Blueberry minky which is just devine.

I tried a Pea Pods, and you only get what you pay for, IMO. Mine started to fall apart after only a few wears. I'd much prefer to pay a bit extra and know I'm buyibg good quality.

I am so new to pockets as I have been using fitted cloth but here is my opinion anyways ;)

I bought 12x Bumgenius 2.0's on ebay which were TERRIBLE. I just thought that Bg's must have been rubbish...until I discovered they were nasty chinese fakes!

I then bought 12x real BG 3.0's and they are brilliant! I have never before (either in cloth of 'sposies) let DD go all night without a change but with the BG with the regular insert plus a GK small bamboo insert she lasts 12hrs, no leaks. The best thing though is that her bottom is dry even when the inserts are soaked. I am so impressed and glad that I saved up and splashed out. $28 is a bit pricey but the 3.0's come with two inserts, the regular one (which is meant to hold 400ml, and a newborn sized one which you can just use as a doubler) so the two inserts kinda make it good value.

I have 2x Babycheeks, 4x WAHM made pockets on their way to me so I will be very interested to see how they compare.

Ok, so after lots of research and reading and making lists etc, I have finally ordered some MCNs!

I have ordered two Bumgenius 3.0 and one GK funtime.

I'm so excited!

Thank you so much for all your help!

You will LOVE BG's, trust me!!!!

I can't stop feeling the gorgeous lining fabric:laughing:

Last night my GK bamboo booster wasn't dry so I just used 2x full size BG inserts instead (which was a little bulky) and they lasted the 12hours with not even a hint of a leak.

Good luck:)
