View Full Version : Weird things the doc talks about....
I had my ceasar almost a year ago now.... :o And when my DD was born and they took her away to be cleaned up i was very tired and was constantly dosing off but all i remember while they were stitching me up was what they were talking about! The doctors were talking about what they did last weekend and how the footy went and what they planned on doing this weekend! It was just weird for me! Has anyone else had their ceasar doctors talk about strange things while be stitched?
Yep. My first c/section both the Dr's were looking at each other talking about what they did the day before and also talking about the AFL grand final (my daughter was born the day after grand final day on the Sunday).
One of the dr's ended up being my gyno about 2yrs later and I gently reminded her about that day.
She said that they do that many that they have to talk about something as it get's kinda boring and monotonous.
My second c/section wasn't really that exciting - they were all talking to ME!
There was no chatter during mine. It was lovely and quiet.
I think this is quite common, my DH complained that the docs were all chatting about the cricket whilst he was having a cornea operation. (he was only allowed a local, much to his horror)
Don't really remember for dd born but for ds the paed was mentioning how he has just joined a new tennis club and telling the surgeon all about the great meals they get!!!!
all I remember is my OB trying really hard to keep me awake on the table...
I was exhausted from the labour. .. and just loving the sleepy feeling the drugs gave me!!!
I'm sure that they talked about all sorts of stuff....
I know my midwife and DH had a LONG conversation about the tv show that was on - while I was having really quick contractions  I plan on reminding DH about that for the rest of his life :D
I don't remember hearing the doctors at all...I had a midwife rambling on at me sometimes but most of the time I was doing all of the talking. I was quite frightened (and I just talk A LOT when I'm scared). I had oxygen on too because I was freaking - though DP thought I had drugs in it. Does anyone know if they give you drugs? lol...I don't think they would...
The only thing I remember the doctor saying was, (after the nurse had told me I had a girl) "He's a very healthy little boy!". I thought, "What? Is it a he-she?" but the nurse simply said, "Um...it's a girl." lol. I hope he observed my insides much better than he observed DD's sex!
I didn't have a c/s but i needed to be induced and while the doc was trying to put in a drip he was talking about a lecture he was giving in a few minutes all about syphillis
The surgeons were cracking lame jokes while doing my caesar!
mine were wowing over how huge my baby was. there i was thinking he must be a 10 pounder or something. turns out he was 7 pound 9 but 60 cm long. also they were teasing us that they knew the sex and not us
Wow, its so funny they all do this. I thought i had judt got some wierd ones! lol They were talking about what they did last night and one of them was going on about what they had for dinner and how lovely it was!!
I mean, your'e stitching someone up, do you really wanna be talking about stuff like that????
It musn't bother them at all.
When I was being stitched up I remember one of the Drs talking about a really good pen they got from one of the drug companies and how they don't get as many freebies off drug companies these days. This was followed by a comment something like "I hope she's asleep and not listening to us talking about this stuff!" I thought it was all very funny! I guess it's just their job (and everyone chats at work!) and so it's no big deal for them. It was kind of reassuring at the same time because if they're talking about weird stuff like that, then it's pretty unlikely that anything bad is happening to you.
My anethisist (sp)? Ugh I know that was spelt wrong, he was telling me everything they were doing. The surgeons though remained absolutely quite except to tell the aneth........ person what was happening, it wasn't really straight forward the procedure.
To begin with though they were just chatting about this being the 6th baby tonight that had come out the sun roof! lol
Mine was quiet funny... When I had a few complications one assisting doctor said oohh I have never seen that before:eek: Then my obst went to say that his receptionist is funny about who she lets in to see him as he is high risk and now I could tell the door b&tch I was ok to be let in:D Then I wanted to know what he was doing and he said I'm putting all your bits back in tmi
Mine rattled on with their stories, and where they'd been etc, but i think its more to calm you and take your mind off what they're doing....and it worked didn't it! :D
Mine were wonderful and chatted and joked about quite alot but included us in the convo, very friendly and made me much more relaxed and confident!
