hey hun, my DD was born by emergency c/sec at 33 weeks due to pre-eclampsia.She was very small (2.8pnds) due to my placental insufficiency so id say your bubby will hopefully be a fair bit bigger than her as she was the size of a 28/29 weeker and should have been about 4 or 5 pounds for that gestation.

But,luckily because everything but her size had developed to 33 weeks shes as healthy as can be and turning into a little porker that loves her food (shes one next month) only had cpap for a day and a half and probably could have gone without it but they didnt want her to over-exert herself and lose weight.was in a humidi crib for a week and a bit but went into an open cot after that which is amazing for such a small little bubba.

She was on tube feeds until 5 weeks but it would have been less but the nurses were putting too much down her tube when i wasnt there (even though the dr had told them to drop her feeds) so she was never hungry when we would try to give her a bottle so wouldnt take it.As soon as we realised what was going on she came home feeding independently 2 days later.

only other issues was high blood sugar, low platelets and some jaundice but that was all due to my placental issues so all will be different for you.

Good luck with everything! Im sure all will turn out well!

Thanks!
I actually might be induced due to the placenta not working properly so my bub is small too and will proberably have the same issues.
Its nice to hear that things arent as bad as if the baby was more premature. My daughter was born at 26 weeks and that was so hard so im glad to have made it this far.

Hi I had a 32 wker who was the size of a 33-34 wker
He was 2133gms so quite big he had some problems breathing at 1st but by 24hrs he was breathing on he own.
he also had jaundice and need to be under light for 24hrs
he spent about 2 wks in a isolette with temp issues and a few weight gain problems at 1st with reflux and he came home 5 weeks later and is now 9mths and 8.4kgs and doing great

My other son was also prem at 35wks and he was 1705gms (he had IUGR) but he he did better Breathing and temp wise with no jaundice but still spent 5wks in hospital with feeding issues hes now 2 and is still small at only 9.6kg but healthy

but every baby is different and your time might be different
all the best and i hope he does stay put longer but if not i hope all goes well and you have a short stay in SCN

good luck

I was induced at 34wks due to my waters breaking at 29+5wks. The placenta was fine tho so bub was a healthy 2.6kgs and went straight into an open cot with just an NG tube he was home at 16 days old.

The positive that I kept in mind leading up to the induction was that at least we knew he was going to be early so I had been steroid loaded 4 or 5 times since my waters broke to help his lungs develop, he had no breathing issues whatsoever, hopefully this advanced notice helps your bub too.

All the best to you and bub. We're here once bub's born if you need a vent about SCN.

not sure if this will help

but I had DD at just over 35wks, but aparently when she entered the world she was acting like a 34wker

I didn't get any steroid shots, which if I had would've prevented half her problems and she wouldn't have spent so long in hosp

DD was in severe respitory distress, at 12hrs old was just about intubated, they ended up putting stuff into her lungs that helped, she was on cpap for 3 days, in the humidicrib on oxygen for another 5 days, was in open crib on oxygen for another 3/4 days, then just had the feeding tube till the day before we took her home

as I said, if I was given the steroids then she most probably wouldn't have had the problems with her breathing that she had,

i'm sure your bub will be fine, when we were in the SCN there were bubs there that were born 34/35wks and they were fine, they were given steroids, i'm sure your bub will be fine too

good luck

Hi there,
I had twins at 34 weeks +one day. They're both doing really well. They spent two weeks in the special care nursery, then came home. One boy was 1.8kilos, and the other 2.0kilos. They're both gaining weight really well and besides being a bit on the small side, are fine.
good luck
