View Full Version : When did you first hear bubs heartbeat?
I'm asking coz I am 16wks this week and the dr still couldn't hear the heartbeat when I went for my checkup this morning. I can't remember when I first heard bubs heartbeat when I was preg with DS & DD, but I was sure it was before 16wks.
Is this normal?
I didn't hear Cobey's until 19 weeks... took a while to find it though, but the midwife wasn't worried as she said it's hard even then! HTH

I'm pretty sure I heard the heart beat before 16 weeks, I would say about 12 weeks. I know it actually starts beating at 6 weeks, but because they are moving around alot etc. it can be hard to locate. If your doctor isn't worried I wouldn't worry either. Are you feeling any movement yet?

I work in the medical field and yes any where from 6 weeks but more likely 9 weeks onwards, I heard mine at 7 weeks, very faint.
DD was 12 weeks
DS was 14 weeks
Thanks, good to know others have had to wait a while to hear it. The dr didn't seem worried, I was just curious.
ml2tope, I haven't felt any movements yet. I'm sure I felt movements from my kids before 16wks, this bubba is very different.

Well you know what they say, every baby is different! lol! I think it just depends on when bub wants to co-operate! Good luck with your pregnancy! :)

We heard this ones heartbeat on the doppler on Wednesday at 17 weeks 3 days. It was amazing. I love it when I can hear it.
We saw the heartbeat at 8 weeks 5 days on an ultrasound.
I think ours was about 10 weeks.

Usually you can hear the heartbeat at your 12 week appt when they do the scan etc.
But as we are all different it could be totally normal not to hear it later, bubs may be in a funny position.
I heard both mine around the 12week mark.
Nothing to be concerned about as bubs is moving etc.:hugs:

We saw ours on a scan at 10 weeks and then heard it at 14 weeks with a doppler.
Saw it at 6 weeks on ultrasound, then heard it at 12 weeks, again at an ultrasound.

Heard it at my first MW visit at 25 weeks, first time doppler was tried.
Saw it at my morph scan at 19 weeks, first scan we had.
No idea when it WOULD have been visible/audible.
10w with DS1
9w6d with DS2
both with the doppler
