Day trip ideas for Friday - all ideas welcome

Hey girls!

Today is DH's b'day and he's been away for work nearly every week lately (few days here, few days there) (also why I've been a bit quite in here of late).

Anyway, looks like he has to go away again from Sun-Wed so he's taking THIS Friday off.

I'd like to surprise him by taking him (and all the kiddies) on a nice day trip somewhere - any ideas would REALLY be appreciated! We love going for drives so it doesn't matter were - up north, down south, east coast etc. Something nice and relaxing.

You could go for a drive to Beauty Point and check out Seahorse World (http://www.seahorseworld.com.au/home.htm) I know that the kidlets would love that and I'm sure Shane would find if very interesting too. And if you book online you can save 20% :thumbsup:

What'd you get him for his b'day? I struggled so much!
I'd already bought him the collectors edition of the Calvin & Hobbes comics (3 massive hard bound encycopedia style books = 10kg!!) a dvd and I'd booked us 2 tickets to Melb in August to take him to the football - he was a bit shocked at that! :D

What about packing a gourmet picnic lunch and heading down to Cockle Creek if the weather is nice? *add some banana sandwiches for the kidlets... LOL*

Yes he was 32 yesterday he is my toy boy :laughing:

He really wanted some new clothes so we got him some PJ's, Bonds singlets, jeans and he also wanted another Guinness t-shirt :party:

What did you think of Seahorse World?

It's a really nice drive and there are heaps of things that you can stop and look at on the way.

I've suggested a few things to Shane and I'm going to leave it with him to decide. I filled the car up with petrol today, there's plenty in the fridge to pack for lunch (good idea Kat!!) and Chelsea is having the day off school so she doesn't miss out.
Hopefully it'll be a nice family day out as Shane's back in QLD Sun - Wed night :(.

Are all the trips away only temp thing, or has Shane got a new work schedule? I used to hate it when Steven needed to go away for Block Release. :(

Shane won a temp promotion to an EL1 a little while ago. He's heading up some new big thing which means lots of travel & meetings with interstate offices.
He's off again tomorrow afternoon to QLD until Wed night :crying:. It's so hard.


As for Friday, we took the kids up to Westerway to a place called Something Wild. It's a wildlife sanctuary that has a slow rehabilitation program. It was lovely. It's not huge but it was peaceful and perfect for our kids! They just loved it!
Highly recommend a day trip out there!
