Hi
welcome to bub hub

I also tore quite badly but decided not to get stitch... Im a chicken... :o
the first few times after we had sex it did hurt but I find its much better if we use some lubricant....

Did you speak with your midwife or ob about your first tear? they can normally inform you on how to care for it etc etc

there are exersises you can do.... It may be better if you ask your ob or midwife for a diagram description on what to do....

Good luck with baby 2

Hi Jodie I don't know if I'll be much help but I'll let you know my experience. With DS1 I had the dreaded cut cause I needed forceps my healing time took forever and was excruchiating (sp??) it was a good 10 weeks till I even thought about sex and then another 4 -5 weks till it was semi comfortable. With DS2 I had a very fast 2nd stage labour (45 seconds) and he was 9lb 12oz so I ended up with second to third degree tearing but luckily the pain wasn't nearly as bad and everything seemed back to normal after 6 weeks. DS3 I said NO cut I wanted to tear again if it came to it but was lucky to only have a small graze and no stitches that time although I should say he was only 5lb 13oz. This time if I can have a VB again (long story) I will opt again not to be cut I just found healing time was much better and quicker then with the cut. As for muscles being weaker I had a prolaps uteus after my third child so in my case everything went really weak.

hey, i tore both times with my girls, second degree tears, i knew cause it was on my sheet that they slipped inside my blue book.

i tore in the same place with both, im not sure if it cause its weaker, but both my girls came out pretty fast so i think that had a lot to do with why i tore.

i got stiches to, but with both lots they didnt hurt at all, so lond as they sew you well, you dont feel it, at least i didnt:D

im sure you can massage and stretch the perenium to help reduce the risk, and also if the head comes out slowly, your less likely to tear.
