View Full Version : Removing poo from nappies...

Hi ladies,

Just a couple of questions regarding removal of poo: :barf:

1. How much of the poo is necessary to get off? Do you just scrape the bulk off or do you rinse them fairly well?

2. What do you do if you don't have a Little Squirt? Our toilet is close coupled, so we can't install a Little Squirt. When our main bathroom is redone, DP is going to install a tap next to the toilet, but this is going to be a few months.

Hope you can give me some good advice :-)

Cheers,
GG

i read somewhere that you can use one of those pump gardening sprayers to use instead of a little squirt...

Our toilet is in the bathroom next to the sink so I bought a hand held shower attachment (plastic one from woolies for about $8 I think) and cut the spray bit off (the shower end). I just stick one end onto the end of the tap n at the sink and hold the spray end and clean the nappies into the toilet. I press down on the pipe so it squirts water into the nappy harder and that gets rid off all the poo. It's cheap and it works but you have to have a tap close by the toilet.

TBH once DS was on solids his poos were fairly solid too so normally we dont have a problem with it being left behind except maybe a skid mark. However on the rare occassion it might be ickier we flick off what we can, use toilet paper or a spray bottle of water, we wash it straight away if it was extra icky but like I said that would be pretty rare

Yep. Same.

If it's a particularly messy sort I use one of those 'shower hoses' that I cut the 'shower' bit off... and attatch it to my bathroom basin, then use that to rinse the nappy into the loo. (squeezing the hose to make a high pressure spray) You can get those for about $5 at Woolies or Coles.

Should have just quoted instead of typing.. :iagree:

I used to tip what I could into the loo... and then use loo paper to get the rest... and then because my laundry is downstairs and my bathroom taps are dodgy I would have to rinse the nappy in the bath!

But I got my lil squirt yesterday - or the day before - and put it on the loo bout an hour ago.. let's see how much easier it makes it! :D

Thanks so much for all the info guys. I think I'll do the hand held shower attachment with the spray bit cut off. The new bathroom will have a laundry incorporated into it and the toilet will be right next to the laundry sink, so this should be easy as pie.

Thanks again!

GG
