My hCG levels at 4 weeks were 249 and today (5 weeks) my levels are over 5000 (not sure of exact).
Now I know the levels are supposed to double every second day, but this is doubling faster (~1.6 days). By my calculations I should be around 3000.
Should I be concerned with this rapid increase? I am still within normal limits for 5 weeks, but i have read that if the levels are increasing too fast it can be a sign of a Molar or ectopic pregnancy.
Should I be concerned? Does anyone else have similar increases?
Thanks for the help.

hcg levels really vary so i wouldnt be too concerned at this stage..
here's a bit i took from a website for you.
Week 5 - Gestational Age (Fetal age 3 weeks)
Development
The gestational sac is often the first thing that most transvaginal ultrasounds can detect at about 5 weeks. This is seen before a recognizable embryo can be seen. Within this week, at about week 5 ½ to the beginning of the 6th week, a yolk sac can be seen inside the gestational sac. The yolk sac will be the earliest source of nutrients for the developing fetus.
Hormones
Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) levels can have quite a bit of variance at this point. Anything from 18 - 7,340 mIU/ml is considered normal at 5 weeks. Once the levels have reached at least 2000, some type of development is expected to be seen in the uterus using high resolution vaginal ultrasound. If using a transabdominal ultrasound, some type of development should be seen when the hCG level has reached 3600 mIU/ml. Although development may be seen earlier, these levels provide a guide of when something is expected to be seen.
Try not to worry. :hugs:

Thanks for your help....
At first I was ecstatic about the result. But when I started looking on the net about normal results I started second guessing.
I wish I could stop over analysing everything. Only time will tell.

It looks perfect. One of my friends had a BT at 5 weeks and Hcg was 900, then a week later Hcg was over 15,000.
Baby was fine and she is a happy and healthy 9 month old!!

susmamma: I had a very early m/c (chem pg) last cycle, so I am super worried something bad will happen this cycle.
melly_bel11: It's good to hear someone else who had a huge increase and everything turned out fine - very reassuring.
MLF: I hope it's not twins!!! Although they are in the family. However my values are still normal for a single bub :fingerscrossed:
Kachow: Thanks for the congrats. I will try a relax and stress less... what will be will be :)
