View Full Version : We're serious now!
After AF showing her ugly head yesterday its been 6months since we started our TTC journey and We've now decided to change our plan of attack lol. We were happy to let nature do its thing but now we're getting serious. So ladies can you all explain to me how to chart CM and temps and also how O tests work, Im doing it all :)
Also are the O tests you get off EBAY any good? its just the other ones are so expensive and as I have really no real idea when I will O i will probably use a lot atleast in the first month or two til I get some sort of a pattern forming (hopefully). Im an amature so any advice is greatly appreciated, thanks :)

Hi Jamaica,
Log on to fertility friend and join. YOu get your first month of the VIP package free, and then after that you just get the standard package free. Difference is the VIP one gives you a lot more analysis of the data you enter.
Buy yourself a BBT THermometer from the chemist, about $15 one that has two decimal places.
Basically every morning at the same time before you get out of bed take your temperature. Orally or internally are the best ways. You must take it before you get up, and it needs to be the same time every day. Enter that into Fertility Friend each day, including the time etc.
There is also a tab in there for you to record your cervix position. You do this by TMI, inserting your finger and having a feel as to if it is high, medium or low, you also need to see if it is soft, medium or firm and also if the opening is open, medium or closed. At your most fertile time it normall is high soft and open. It will take you a few months to get use to what you classify is high, soft, open, medium etc etc....
You also need to record your Cervical mucas daily be it dry, creamy, sticky, watery or eggwhite. Watery & Eggwhite are your fertile times. Eggwhite is when you can rub your two fingers together and you get like an elasiticity texture to it.
There is also a tab in there for you to record any OPK tests. I dont use the ones off the internet, I started off using just the ones you buy in the supermarket for $20 pkt of 5. You do them at 2pm each day and there is a leaflet in the box for you to work out what time of the month to start them based on how long your cycles are, they generally say to start them 3 days before O I think.
There is another tab in FF to record any symptoms you might have like back ache, headaches, tiredness, moods, PMT, ovulation pains, etc.
When you enter all this data in daily, FF will at some point notice an ovulation pattern and tell you when you ovulated.
Generally you get a dip the day prior to ovulation in your temperatures. Feel free to have a look at my chart, the link is in my sig and you can see the trend that takes place for it to recognise O.
I hope that sort of helps! It will take you a couple of months to start to see a trend in your charts but I find it fun to do, and to monitor daily.
Feel free to PM Me! I'm no expert at charting by any means and still searching for that elusive BFP, but hope that helps.
Craftymum - i had a look at ur chart i think i get it :) Tho problem is i have no idea when to start testing for O as this month I had a 19day cycle where it usually is 31-36days.
Thanks for all the support and baby dust :)

I have no idea about all the questions, just wanted to wish you lots of luck:babydust2::babydust2:

Hi Jamaica,
I just want to say goodluck :fingerscrossed: and hope you get the :bfp: soon.
With my previous pregnancy I fell pregnant fairly quickly after my D&C.
Just stay positive.:flowerz:

Hi Jamaica
Crafty mum gave you some good advice on how to do things.
perhaps just chart your temp this month, and not do the opk's if you are a bit unsure about what your cycle is doing at the moment.
Remember that while it is a great idea to look at other peoples charts to recognise different patterns, everyone is different so your chart will look very different, and the changing temps will mean different things for you. Charting is only useful to you after you have done it for a while to determine what is normal for you - you use it to pick out abnormal patterns.
I dont want to be horrible - but why are you so anxious about it this time? .... in that 6 months of ttc you did conceive - so that is a really good sign that you dont need to stress too much. (Dont answer that if you dont want, I understand how hard it is....)
Anyway - opk's of the internet seemed to work fine for me. Remember too - opk's dont work for everyone.....
best of luck
:hugs:
My anxiety now is not so much getting pregnant in itself, Im actually quite worried about my body. I have always had issues with my cycles and they seem to be getting worse the older I get so im just as intrested to see what is happening to me as I am to no wen I O, and also :o DH and I tend to BD a bit too much so if we can chart we will no wen it around O time so we can cut back and just baby dance maybe once a day around that time or even have a day off before that time once we see a pattern as I usually like to BD atleast a couple times (not for TTC just me lol).

WOW! You guys BD a lot!
They recommed that you BD every 2nd day when you are trying to get pregant to give you the optimum chance. You guys are just going above and beyond the call of duty. ;)

:D Bd'ing all the time is absolutely fine.
As i said - you dont seem to have a problem falling preg ..... and DH holding sperm only helps to build the numbers so wont do anything to change the quality of the sperm/embie
Charting is a great way to learn more about your body and what it does etc .... and may help a lot during early preg.
Have you thought about seeing a Naturpath? or maybe an FS to get some progesterone support? may ease your mind when you get your BFP.....
