If you had $2000 to get equipment/toys/whatever for your child?
My family have put together a huge amount of money (though they are rich so it's not much to them) to buy things for DS, but they want things to help him with his special needs. He doesn't need anything like a walker, etc.
Early Intervention have suggested a few things to me to the value of about $500, mostly toys that will help him. I am also going to get an outside play gym and a trampoline. And if they think it's ok, a car seat as he has grown out of his.
Does anyone have any ideas? I really don't know what to get and usually end up with stuff he mever touches.

Id be getting stuff like a gym ball and othe stuff ot and physio use. And i think that outside gym thing is a great idea, id love to egt one for alex!! Also simple books and maybe some learning dvds to give you a break without feeling too guilty lol. We use the baby bumblebee dvds they use for autistic kids in the states.
Thats so great your family have come together like that Tegan. It must be such a great feeling. What about an easle (sp??) that he can have outside to learn to finger paint? That would be cool!! And a makaton book cause my printer has died i think lol. !!!

Don't worry about the makaton stuff, I'll get there eventually.
And about the dvds, I wish I could get Jacob to sit in front of the tv for even just 5 mins so I could go to the toilt by myself, but no, I have just started calling him shadow.

I'd spend the $500 as suggested and the other things as mentioned and put the rest away for later.
You have a wonderful family:thumbsup:

I would talk to the therapists and go from there!!! Specific SN equipment is very expensive and they should know if u need something specific in the future!!!
Hi - all the above suggestions were great and how lucky are you to have a great family to think if contributing money for your little one. Its probably old fashioned but we got a little money from DS's great grandma and we have put it into a fund for his education - whatever that might be or require. Just a thought :)

Write down a wish list then decide from there. Make a list of things that would make your lives easier, as well as things that would be fun for your little one. That's lovely what your family has done. I like the idea of putting some away too if you can, although SN equipment is so expensive it's hard to do that.
