Hi there,
i have some cream to use up and thought Id make a cream sauce to go with steak for dinner...does anyone know how to make a good cream sauce? I have some white wine too...

Add some garlic to a pan, gently saute it, then add your cream and let it simmer, stirring, add some white wine, and simmer, and it will thicken up without the use of anything else...If it doesnt add a little flour paste, made up with flour and water......
I make it all the time....
Dosn't sound as good as ^ but an old time fav of mine is..
Sautee Garlic. Add 1 cup of cream and then add 1/2 a cup of BBQ Sauce. YUMMO!

Do you have any peppercorns
If you simmer the cream then add some wine and the peppercorns let it simmer til it thickens then pour over your steak
can use brandy instead of wine too

I would sauta a little garlic, finely chopped onion and mushrooms and then slowly add your cream and a dash of wine Ohh lots a pepper!!

My friends mum made a mean cream sauce for her steaks and snitzels - I was so suprised when she told me what was in it.... 1 cup of cream, 1/4 cup tomato sauce and 1/4 cup of bbq sauce. It tastes sooooo good!!!

My old standby - use pan juices, add thickened cream (how much depending on how many you need to serve) and some wholegrain mustard. Cook it up for a while until it becomes thick. To this you can add any or all - spring onions, garlic, white wine.
Another favourite sauce, would be mushroom, really really easy, just chopped mushrooms quite chunky (or alternatively use baby mushrooms) sauté in some butter or marg,(at this stage can add some white wine if you wish), then tip in either cream or sour cream and reduce to sauce consistency, yummy!

some good suggestions here but when cooking a cream suace you really should add the wine first and reduce it by half..... then add the cream and simmer till thinkened:)
