Just want to check with others. Do your bubs ever feel really hot to the touch, but not have a fever?

All night & even now, MJ has felt really hot to the point of burning my arm when laying on it, but the thermometer says she's only 36.1  She has been off for over a week, not sleeping, not eating etc but i'm sure its just teething.

Any ideas?

I would say that if she feels that hot that she must have a temperature - How are you measuring it - could you have a dodgy thermometer?

Is she getting plenty of liquids and having lots of wet nappies (please forgive me if I stating the bleeding obvious)?

It couldn't hurt to take her to the Doctor if you are worried...

Yeah MJ's drinking heaps of water & having normal bf. Nappies seem normal. According to the thermometer, I'm hotter than her  But her head is soo hot, as is her belly :(

I'll check it with another one now. According to this one she's 36.6

My DD always has a hot head - not a hot forehead - no fever - but her head always feels hot - I thought this was just a baby thing? She is very hot headed temperment wise too so maybe there's some connection? :D

Are some babies just warm bubs'?

I would go to the doctor if you are worried but it is possible she is just hot.
You will get some variance with different thermometers and different times of day.
Sounds silly but are your hands cold?

Both of my DD's are like little hot water bottles - come to think of it so is DP!!

I used to worry alot with DD1 and was constantly checking her temp but eventually had to let it go and accept that she was a hot body!!

If you are really worried get her checked by your GP but it is possible that she is just a warm person!!

I'll just keep an eye on her for now as i'm not overly worried, just concerned. It was alot hotter last night & today than it has been for ages.

Thanks for the info though :)

Bubs always used to scare me like this but his temp was always normal ( 36.6 )
I really knew it the day he had a temp & boy was it scary :(
Try not to worry as you will really know when she is sick & has a temp but otherwise as the others have said straight off to the doctors if it keeps worrying you as its better to be safe :D

A similar thing worried me a little while back...she felt hot but according to the thermometre...she was fine.

I had a check in some medical books and some baby books and they basically said that a baby who feels hot to touch, but isn't hot temperature-wise is probably overdressed. I removed some of DD's clothes/blankets and she was okay. I was bundling her up because I thought it was cold...but obviously she didn't need as much warmth as I had thought.

Hope it helps.

oh DS is ALWAYS hot... I used to freak out too - now I just check the centre of his forehead... it seems to be the coolest part of his head!!!??? and his tummy is always really warm too...

some babies are just hot!!! (my DH is the same.... he is always comfortable when it is cold... he is nice to snuggle into during winter - he warms my cold feet with his back  )

tyler is such a hot head and always feels like she is on fire,,, just like veve i was always freaking out taking her to the doc calling the hosp but her temp is always around 35.5 which is normal,, i use a ear thermometer and even took it with me to the doc so he could check it and show me if i was using it wrong:rolleyes:

the best advice i can give you is if you are every worried ring your doc/hosp or take her it never hurts to get bub checked:thumbsup:
