Just wanting to share my story and chat to others that have experienced something similar.:)

In my lst pregnancy I developed high bp at 32wks, was in and out of hospital and put on medication. DS1 was induced at 37wks and apart from jaundice was fine.

2nd pregnancy bp didn't rise until 36wks, didn't required meds though and induced at 38wks DS2 was very healthy.

3rd pregnancy developed high bp at 22wks, was put on meds, in and out of hospital and induced at 36wks. DD was in neonatal for 2nights.

4th pregnancy pretty much had high bp from day one. Put on meds at 9wks, had a few hospital stays, DS3 induced at 36wks was the smallest of the 4 and apart from a few blood sugar problems was fine. A few times I had traces of protein but 24hr urine collections showed no cause for alarm and my bloods were always normal.

After no. 4 my bp has reamined up and I now have essential hypertension.

We are wanting to add to our family and require IVF to do this.

I went to the doctor today to get my referral letter and have my bp checked - 173/101 the highest it has ever been. I asked him to prescribe a 'pregnancy friendly' medication but he gave me a script for atacand which I was already on and not recommended in pregnancy grrrrrrr.

I know that if I conceive I will be considered high risk, but I am confident that with good care and monitoring I will have a good outcome.

I know that many woman with essential hypertension get pregnant all the time, but I am getting negative comments from friends and family about us ttc because of my history so we have decided not to tell them about IVF.

I would love to hear from those of you that had PIH or essential hypertension prior to falling pregnant.

Hi maorimama- how are ya?

Glad to hear that you have had good outcomes form your risky pregnancies so far- it makes me feel a bit more positive- thank you.

Not good to hear that you have had these issues with all your pregnancies so far- must be very stressfull.

I didn't have essential hypertension prior to this pregnancy- eventhough I did have a few high readings during those years- just never investigated.....

I did have PIH with DD- at about the 35 wk mark- but no meds and iduction booked at 38 wks- but I beat them to it-lol.

I am currently 28 wks pregnant, and have been having PIH issues from about 20 wk mark- and am on Hydopa since about 23 wks.

Don't worry about those negative comments- if you feel up to it- and want to have another baby- than I feel it is your right to do, an there is no way around it....

I have a friend who is pregnant with her no.6- and she has had PIH with every one of her preganncies- except one.....all needing meds and hospitalization- and I support her all the way......!!!!!!!

If you need to chat just pm me.
