I'm just curious about how soon the average woman returns to fertility after birth control pills and whether the speed at which AF returns is any indication of whether it will be easier to conceive?
I had AF on 4th May, stopped the pill on 12th May, and this morning AF has arrived again (it's only been 2 weeks since the last one and not even a week since stopping the pill!)! Seems too soon to me, but it's definitely AF, complete with cramps, back pain, and toilet issues the day before. Is this a good sign that I might get my cycles back again sooner rather than later or just wishful thinking?

I can only tell you what happened to me. I had been on the pill for 13 years when I came off it after AF in November. Had a bleed 10 days later and then exactly a month later (since first bleed) got AF, 6 weeks later AF again. After this AF (in February) we stopped using condoms and I havent had AF since!! Thats right I am now 13 weeks preggers.
We were worried about having trouble as my AF was irregular before I started the pill at 13 and then having been on it for so long as well as my partner not being such a spring "rooster" but yeah, everything went surprisingly well.
My doctor said the fact I started taking pregnancy vitamins when I came off the pill may have also helped me but thats just his opinion not medical fact.
Good luck!

Hi
I was on the pill for 1o years. When I stopped it, I got af about 3-4 days later. I believe all women get this and it is called a 'break through bleed'. Don't quote me on this I am not a doctor! But 3 moths after stopping the pill I am 4 weeks pg! Some woman fall pg straight away first cycle after stopping the pill. They say you are more fertile the first cycle post pill. Good luck with TTC! :)
When I was TTC with Cobes, I went off the pill when I finished that month... (when on the 'sugar pills') and was pregnant that month... I had been on the pill, implanon and the pill again for 5 years up to that point.
I've gone off Implanon now, and it's taken 8 weeks and several HPTs (:p) to FINALLY get my period back! I'd been on implanon for about 15 months, I think.

I stopped the pill in Feb (after 8 years) - stopped just before the sugar pills and had af as usual. First cycle was 22 days and currently on 2nd cycle and up to day 74 with no sign of :bfp: or af
Good luck :)

Thanks for all the replies... it's nice to hear other's stories, even if it's just to get an idea of how normal or otherwise everything is. As for being extra fertile in the first cycle post-pill... that'll have to wait, cause DP is away for a week or so. (Although he's talking about doing it "wheelbarrow style" when he gets back to give gravity the best posisble chance! LOL - the mind boggles!!!!)
I gave up the pill early January 2008 (when i was due to take the placebos) and had my "fake" AF the normal 4-5 days later. Then it took until 14th April for my own AF to arrive. 3 of the longest months of my life as doc said I should wait for at least 1 normal cycle before TTC. My hubby and i got bored waiting and did some research and there is no direct danger in geting pg before AF arrives. Just makes it easier for doc to estimate due date. We stopped using protection late March and have been actively TTC since 1st April. Haven't had another one since (hopefully soon) although would be happy not to have another AF and have a bubs instead :). Most manufacturers of the pill suggest the average amount of time for AF to return is anything up to 3 months.
i stopped the pill after 12 years in march and AF came 25 days later. last month was 26 days and i'm hoping it doesn't come at all this month!!!:babydust2:

Hi all,
I'm new to this but I found it so helpful to find others in the same situation as me that I thought I would reply. I finished bcp in early April after being on it for 12 years and since that AF nothing has happened. I have now started charting my temps and using a maybe baby ovulation predictor. The only thing is today I have had the weirdest AF like pains even though I have had full ferning for the last 3 days. I also had a very faint OPK line a few days ago. So I'm wondering if this is what 'normal' ovulation pains are like?? Has anyone else had this before? I'm actually feeling a bit confused because I don't know when my AF or O should be arriving. The temping is helping to keep me sane though!:yelclap:
Can anyone else shed some light?
Thanks! :)
I stopped taking my pill, and had my fake period, now just waiting for venus to come in junction with the moon:wizard:
I think everyone is different.
