I think ds is ready to drop a day sleep:confused:
Up until quite recently he has been having two 1.5hr day sleeps as well as sleeping about 11 hours overnight. However, during the night he would generally wake anywhere from 1-6 times a night. It wasn't really an issue as he always resettled very quickly and easily. He suddenly stopped waking during the night and at teh same tiem was less tired during the day - the presumption being that he is now gettinga more sound sleep at night.
What I am reallt struggling with is when to put him down for his sleep if he is only to have the one?????? Now he can hang out till around 10am (very roughly). However if I put him down then he will not last the rest of the afternoon till bedtime. I tried dragging him out till just after lunch (have an early lunch and in bed by 12/12.30). He slept beautifully then (2/2.5hrs). BUT.........HE is exhausted by then - wont eat his lunch properly and if I was to go anywhere in the car before this he would definately fall asleep.
Please somebody HELP ME!! I thought, ok he's not ready - but if I try two sleeps again we have a shocking night - he wakes up and it is taking 2-3 hours to get him back to sleep:eek: Do I just ned to perservere with the lunchtime sleep?? Does it take tiem for them to get used to being up for so much longer?? How long can other bubs last at a time??
btw, ds is 14 months old.

My DD1 droped to one day sleep at around the same age. She would wake at about 7 am and have brekky and a play and then go back to sleep after a bottle at about 11 and sleep until about 1:30 or 2pm then I would give her lunch when she woke up and then dinner at about 6:30pm and in bed by 7:30pm. If she had an earlier sleep or a shorter sleep and was tired in the afternoon I would take her for a walk in the pram or a ride in hte car so she could have a short sleep (no longer than 45 mins) and this was enough to get her through the afternoon and still not be so rested that she didn't sleep at night.
