Dreams during pregnancy

I thought it might be fun to have a preggy dream thread. Don't know about others but I know I get very odd, vivid dreams when I'm pregnant & thought it could be funny to hear what others are dreaming about too.

This isn't an analysis thread (because, to be honest, you're pregnant & hormonal - it doesn't need any other analysis!!). And some dreams can be pretty graphic & disturbing (so just warning anyone who might read this that someone's dream might be upsetting). But it's also reassuring to know we aren't the only ones having bizarre dreams about our babies!!

when i was pregnant last year i would have dreams about doing naughty stuff with my ex!!!
it horrified me!! as i would never never want to do anything like that to my DP! lol... i had really weird dreams like that tho i wonder what the cause is... hormones perhaps??

So...I had my first odd dream last night (the reason I started the thread).

Warning - there is a little bit of potential squeamishness in it but I won't go into too much detail.

I was 9 months preggy & absolutely huuuuge! & about to have my elective. I was in the hospital, dressed in my lovely (hehe) hospital gown & was told that, before I could have the elective, I had to go see a baby dissection (!).

There were two of us & we went down a long hallway to the room where the dissection was going to be. The Dr giving the presentation was my daughter's orthodontist (although I didn't realise it was him until I woke up - he has a very boring, clinical, monotonous way of talking & I never really saw his face in the dream). He was about to start when I excused myself & went to look for a toilet.

I started opening doors along the hallway but couldn't find a toilet...all I could find was a chair in the next room with a bedpan on it (I often have dreams about not being able to find toilets or where toilets are strange & basically unusable...I have no idea why). So I used that &, just as I finished, the Dr came in & said they'd finished the dissection & would I like to see as well?

I said yes & I was looking at a baby's leg (attached to the rest of the baby...just focusing on it's leg). The Dr started telling me about how when babies are in utero, a nerve runs between their toes up to their fingers on each side but outside the body but falls off just before they are born. "Which is why they look like puppet babies on the scans," he said animatedly.

I thought about this for a minute, then started asking lots of questions...was the nerve flexible? If the baby moved their hand, did their foot move too? What happened if baby grasped the nerve?

Then I woke up.

Very random & very odd....& probably not helped by the fact I was reading about a company in the US that sells the body parts of aborted fetuses to research centers right before I went to bed (which is probably why the dissected baby thing came up). I told hubby & he told me off - saying I shouldn't read that sort of thing while I'm pregnant...or stories of people who have lost their bubbas because they always make me upset.

Jesska...apparently that's really common! It must be hormones. I think I only had one of those sorts of dreams with my last pregnancy (& even then, it was a bit odd). Hubby was very flattered when I told him about it :p

Sorry to crash the thread guys, but I also get really weird dreams - usually of the naughty kind too!
Epiphany - when I dream of toilets I need to wake up fast, coz if I don't I'd hate to see the result! :laughing:

I have dreams about my ex too and it scares me.. I wake up and im like what was that meant to mean.

2 days before I got my BFP I dreamt that I was breast feeding my baby and I remember thinking how much it hurt! That was a little omen perhaps ;)
Last night I can't even begin to describe the weird dream I had, but it was slightly sexual and involved people that I really don't find attractive!

I always have horrible nightmares when I'm pregnant, I really hope they don't happen this time because I'm all by myself and they're really scary. :(

So far this pregnancy I've had no weird dreams, but it's only early days yet.

Last pregnancy I dreamt that I gave birth to my dog Harry and the only thing about the whole situation that bothered me was that I couldn't get a huggies nappy to stay on him :laughing:

Haa haa you are all making me laugh so much, I am so glad I am not going crazy!

Only just found out I am preggas and man am I having saucy dreams or what..... None that I know of with my DH yet though.... infact apart from some random woman (!) I have no idea who they are.....

I really don't remember if I had crazy dreams with Bella's pregnancy so hmmmmm.... what is this baby getting me in for?

Thank goodness i found this thread. I have had horrible dreams the past week or so about my fiance and i breaking up cos he's found someone else. a non pregnant person who isnt going to get a huge tummy... they were so real. especially last nights one. I woke up in shock cos i thought it had honestly just happened. i was hysterical. I found messages on his laptop ( may i add he doesnt have a laptop) asking a girl from his work to dinner. and i asked wat was going on and he was saying he didnt want to be with me anymore and wants her cos she is not going to get HUGE. it was a yucky dream. i mean im not even the slightest bit worried he wont like my baby belly. he liked it the first tiem round. hmmmm very strange. nice to know im not alone though.:smiliedance: has anyone else had this sort of dreams or are they all sexy dreams lol... i think i'd rather one of them.. hahahaha :laughing:

Big hugs, Bubblymum...it's weird what preggy hormones do to you, isn't it?! I never had a dream where hubby was leaving but I had one last pregnancy where he turned out to be the lead singer of the Smashing Pumpkins & just went incognito during his day to day life...lol.

Most of my preggy dreams aren't sexy dreams...they tend to be about the baby & are really weird...but always very vivid - much more than normal dreams.

One I remember very well went like this: I was at my aunt's house, very pregnant. Various people were there incl my parents. I looked down to my belly & saw baby's hands pressed up against my skin, stretching out so you could see baby's hands sort of pushing out. Suddenly, baby started emerging from my belly (think Aliens but not quite so graphic). The baby was a girl & looked about 6 months old. I held her & took her over to the sofa & sat down. She looked round at me & my parents & started talking & asking questions & having a philosophical debate about the meaning of life. I then realised she was **** (a older friend of my parents'). When I told my mum about my dream, she thought it was absolutely hilarious. But I remember it being very vivid & real (well...given I can still vividly recall it 2 years after it happened says something!).

Oh, how we love preggy hormones!
