Wills - how have you distributed to yours, his & together??

For those who have done a Will or maybe thinking of it - how did you and your DH/DP divide things between your own children together and children of other relationship (step children)?

Eg: My DH and I have one child together and my DH has one other child from another previous relationship (who live with his Mum) - we are thinking our child will be left 75% of our home and DH previous child 25% working on DH 50% and me 50% as I have only one bio child so he gets 50% from me and DH has two children so they share his 50% so that would make it 25% each (hope this makes sence :dizzy:)

I get ya. So halve what you both have. Your half goes to your bio child and his half gets halved to both his children. Clear as mud, lol.
Seriously this is a sticky one for us too. So much so that we haven't worked out what to do yet and keep putting off making our wills.
But what I'm unsure of (mini thread hijack here) is if the unfortunate happens and your DH/DP dies, the usual is you inherit everything. But with a child to a previous relationship, how does that work?

tis why you need a will and also to nominate a binding beneficiary to your super otherwise the ex can go for portion of any of your Dh's estate and super payout...we have still got to get round to doing but this is what the lawyer briefly told us...

thats what my mum and step-dad have done split 50/50 then because he has two children they get his 50 divided by 2, my mum has 3 children so her 50 gets divided by 3.

my step-dad brought more money into the relationship as well.

i think it is very complex.

i guess it is fair but i would prefer that all 5 of us got equal shares.

My mum and step-dad have done the same

50% goes to my Mums 3 kids (16.67% each)

50% goes to my SDad's 5 kids (10% each)

My Dad & SMum have the same arrangement which causes a slightly more complex split up as they have kids b/w them as wel

50% goes to my Dad's 5 kids (10% each)

50% goes to my SMums 4 kids (12.5% each)

Which means their 2 combined kids get 22.5% each

depends for us really I mean if we were both killed DD & DS would be without a mother or father to provide whilst DSD & DSS would still have their mother and step father to provide for them, so until they are all over 18 DH wills will favour our 2 & myself ( with CsA paid & trust amounts for the step children) but after that I guess we will do 25% each of DH's money to all 4 children and 50% to our two from my money.
