View Full Version : Do you think Angelina Jolie's twins were conceived naturally?
I was watching sunrise today when Angelina confirmed she is having twins, when I go to DDs school this morning some mums were discussing whether or not she conceived them naturally. I think there's a good chance she didnt as it seems a suspicious number of celebs are having twins but i guess when these people can afford to buy anything they want they figure why not this as well.
What do you ladies think?

Lol the things we find interesting!
I don't think she did, I actually thought she was too underweight to concieve naturally anyway.
Who knows!!!
Does it matter?? Really??
Being a Mum of twins I have to say that people questioning whether they are 'natural' or not is something that really gets to me.
Twins are twins are twins are twins, whether conceived 'naturally' or 'artificially' ... seriously no one who's had twins is going to tell you it's a breeze... and honestly, I think anyone who 'deliberately' tries to conceive twins for a image thing seriously needs their head read.
She's having twins, that's that. Whether naturally conceived or not makes absolutely ZERO difference in the time, effort, stress, organisation, and love it takes to raise them.
I just wish her a healthy pregnancy and lots of support.
(please, I don't mean to offend anyone, it's just a personal bug bare for me....)
God knows, but it wouldn't at all surprise me if she didn't.

i was considered to underweight by the doctor and i concieved naturally.. so i dont know where u heard that.
OJandMe - i agree with u. who cares.

It wasn't a bug at you, it was a general comment that if you are too under or over weight it can affect your ablity to concieve. Can, not will.
Does it really matter how a child/children is/are conceived?
Personally, I feel if someone is all excited about being pregnant, we should just be happy for them and let them be. Let's not question how they became pregnant.
That's just my opinion.
Sorry if I sound a little upset but the post just hit me. My sis has been trying to have a child for the past 11 years and they are trying IVF which costs lots of money. But it's their last chance to have a child. So your remark "....people can afford to buy anything they want they figure why not this as well." did not sit well with me.

I can understand that, it goes hand in hand with the thing that bugs me, people assume that our DD wasn't 'planned' simply because DP and I aren't married. People seem to think they have a right to ask you whether your baby was 'planned' or 'conceived naturally' when it's really none of their business. What happened to simply being happy for people??
On a lighter note think about this scenario:
You have the option to BD with Brad Pitt or have artificial poke you in your bits by a Dr??
Hmmmm don't know about you ladies but BDing with Brad Pitt wins hands down for me :D
I'm with you OJ & me "who cares"!!!!!!!
She seems like a beautiful mother all the best to her and Brad :flowerz:

Although... with already having 4 kids in the house.... not sure how much BDing would really get done.
They would be EXHAUSTED.. coz they both seem really involved. It's nice to see that in celebrity couples.

But to the main point of the thread does it really matter? No it doesn't as long as they love and care for their children I don't care how they get them.

I feel the opposite actually, which is funny. I am an identical twin, i was conceived naturally, i think that's pretty special, now that there is IVF there is so many multiples etc etc, it's kinda now just like yeah whatever, they have twins etc. I think anyone who has multiples does a great job of it, but i get a bit upset that it's not as 'special' being a twin as it once was cause it's now very common because of IVF.
ETA - Also i think they had IVF, i read somewhere her and brad were trying for 6 months with no luck, so decided to go the fertility route, they said cause of her low weight it was harder to conceive naturally, so instead of putting on weight and going naturally, she decided on IVF, if that's true, i think that's a bit stupid really and a bit of a mockery to those that really have infertility problems.

Personally I reckon all babies are special. Be it a twin or not. I am not a twin and I feel special :). Whenever I hear someone is going to have a baby - I reckon it's special and you are special too.

Oh absolutely, very true. But it's a different feeling being a twin, i feel special cause i have a great relationship with my twin sister and we are best of friends, we have a special connection that is very very important to me and her. It's just how i feel personally and of course all kiddies are special.

That's what I read too.
I care lol, I think assisted insemination when not medically neccessary is cheating!
I was reading somewhere about the increased incidence of twins.
It said that IVF is not actually to blame!
Apparrently women over 30 have a higher chance of conceiving twins naturally anyway.
Its the increase in women over 30 having babies, NOT IVF that means more twins!
As for celebrity twins? who knows, who cares?

im another one who says who cares, and if she did its no ones business anyway
I care lol, I think assisted insemination when not medically neccessary is cheating!
and if she did how do you not know it wasn't medically necessary ?
Yeah me too! Twins are special, I would love to have the pleasure of twins but I wouldn't go so far as to "manufacture" them. I think they would be a beautiful surprise
please be mindful of those who do need medical assistance to have a child of their own, to say they "manufacture" their child would i assume be very hurtful. yes you may be talking about doing it with no other reason but to have twins but its still the same process now isn't it ;)
and i honestly don't think too many celebs are having twins, i have so many sets of twins that i know its not funny. in my circle of friends and family they are popping out twins left right and centre (even a set of triplets)

:iagree:Well said! It seems this day and age no question seems too personal. In regard to people asking if your twins are naturally concieved or not, really where have peoples manners gone?
As far a manufacturing babies goes....I have a DD conceived naturally and am currently going through IVF and I'll take a manufactured baby over none any day:thumbsup:
I'll get off the soap box now!
About 1 in every 350 births is a multiple. It's more common than people seem to think. And genetics has nothing to do with it...

Wow that's more common than i thought. Hey umm, is fraternal twins genetic? I know identical twins aren't but only just found this out.
I thought fraternal were genetic as some women may be genetically pre-disposed to releasing 2 eggs instead of one. :D
Yeah I guess you could argue the point that they would be genetic :D Hadn't really crossed my mind, that thought!
I don't know whether the White Coats would class it as being genetically pre-disposed to having twins (fraternal or not) though, as you wouldn't necessarily fertilise both eggs... oh gosh, I have no idea! Talk about a conundrum!

Ooh, maybe I'll get lucky then! :p
But how come there can be like, history of twins in the family? My grandma had twins, her mum had twins, her mums mum had twins...as far back as you can go.
My Mum jokes that that is why everyone only had one baby, apart from her, because they didn't want to tempt fate!
I don't mean that in a bad way, I would love twins. :D
also, the older you get, the chances of twins does increase.
Fraternal twins are supposed to run down the female line, but usually skips a generation
when I had my twins, the hospital said that there were 8 sets born in within 2 months, and there must have been something in the water at the time LOL

I think she may have conceived them naturally because after Shiloh there were many reports that Angelina didn't want to have any more children naturally and would prefer to adopt.
And I don't really see why they would use IVF or something like that as they are so pro-adoption.
who knows really *shrugs*
Does it seriously matter? A human life is a human life. No matter how the parents conceived them.

I would love to have twins! I know IVF increases the chances doesn't it? I dont know much about it.
But truly sorry to offend, it wasnt my intention...
As a mother of twins I have heard all kinds of statistics but one that interested me the most was that more twins are conceived naturally than by IVF so it appears to be a huge misconception that multiple births are higher in IVF pregnancies.
I have to agree with all the people who wrote, one baby, two babies, three or more babies (OMG) doesnt matter, how or where they were conceived, once they're conceived and here, they are here and that's what matters! Lets just embrace that for a change!

I think people are getting defensive because IVF can be a very touchy subject and one that can bring up many emotions as i know through family and friends that IVF doesnt always work.
Who cares how babies are concieved really? All that matters is that they are born into a loving, caring and nurturing environment.

Thanks girls for bringing this back on track without the pink stick having to be brought out:D
As for my thoughts (or what I hear through media) - not saying the media is right as the fact is that we hear so many conflicting reports that none of us will ever know if the twins were conceived through IVF or not...
I had read that these twins were conceived through IVF, as Angelina had trouble conceiving 6months after Shiloh (as another member had commented) - I think some of the issues that people commented on here is the fact that they have 3 adopted children as well as their one child conceived betweent them and it may have seemed premature to go through the IVF route. I guess the difference between Brangelina and my friends that have gone IVF is that they have money on their side. Regardless of twins or not, I do admit to raising an eyebrow to the fact that they sought to go through IVF as poor Angelina must have felt so much pressure to have another child herself (rather than adopting) - if what we read in the women's magazines is true...
If not and regardless, (and probably the real truth lies between) then goodluck to them and their six children. I actually hope they get some real family time and don't feel too much pressure to get the next films done as six children must be very pressing on their time.

Come on guys, this is the celebrity world where everything is outlandish, over dramatised and borders on the ridiculous. They don't have to be where they are - they chose the route. And therefore, are privvy to our stupid observations and gossip.
I think Tom Cruise is the father.. or MAYBE she was artificially inseminated by aliens or MAYBE she is being a surrogate mother for Oprah. OOER

Ok i had quoted posts but decided to put my 2 cents in instead.
Who. Really. Cares.
Honestly these kids are going to be brought into this world with love & really who could ask for more ?
I find it highly amusing that everyone is going off what is written in trashy mags or is in the media in general ... Umm wasnt it earlier this year that they were apparently splitting ?!?!?!?! Yeeeeeah so it must be true
I mean ffs it is very rare that anything written about any celeb is true not even when its an interview being that they often cut & edited things to suit themselves. All to make a better story.
So really what does it matter !
I for one really couldnt give a rats because sorry the news in regards to Burma & China or even the rest of the world right now tends to have more of my attention & this will always be the case.
Seriously get over it.
Twins also run in both their families. Angelina's grandmother had twins and Brad's sister had twin girls.

The mums at your school should donate some of their time to charities if that's all they have to wonder about.
I kind of think she did. Only because- why try to conceive twins when you already have...5 kids? Just doesn't seem likely.
I kind of think she did. Only because- why try to conceive twins when you already have...5 kids? Just doesn't seem likely.
Because some of us want a big family? Not everyone wants the standard 2 kids, so perhaps they were perhaps they weren't.
I dont care how they were concieved...all I can think is how great it is that 2 babies are about to enter the world into a loving, caring, nurturing family.
In reality- thats all that matters.
