I am turning 45 next month and had my last bub in December.
Recently I was reading posts dating back to 2005 from women who were having their first (conceived naturally as mine were too) at 46 and 47.
If medical science continues to push back the boundaries of ageing and death, it is forseeable that women will delay their first baby's til 50, or even 60, using eggs frozen in their early 20's, along with hubby's frozen 40yr old sperm. Mind you, with the price of houses/petrol/groceries it will take you til 60 to be able to afford a child..lol

Guessing you will feel ecstatic come the middle of next month when I hit the big 4-5 then Kayte:D.
I tell everyone I am 24-and-some-months anyway..but it is getting harder to pull off as dd1 is closing the age gap. What do I do when she is 25 and older than I?
I shouldn't worry too much I guess..my dad is only 21:laughing:.
Kids being older than their parents must run in our family.

I've been a late bloomer all my life, that's just the way it's turned out for me.
Okay I am 46, have 25 and 23 yr old children or should I say young adults:) plus a 3 yr old gs plus 6 and nearly 3 yr old children. All conceived naturally.
Just going to book into respite care for a week....bliss:laughing:

Are you as tired as I am? lol. I have way less energy now than with the other kids but I have more patience and common sense than when I was younger so I guess it balances out.
Can I join you in the respite care facility:D..just a few nights of unbroken sleep would do it.
Ahh but they keep you young.

Must admit most people think I am in my late 30's, more to do with having young kids and being young at heart. Colouring the grey hair helps:laughing:

I delivered my ds at 41y4m and am currently 13wks pg with #2. When I deliver I will be........wait-for-it........drum roll.......45y11m:D
Should add - both IVF pgs.....latest with DE, so perhaps cheating a bit:)
ETA...I never planned it this way! Started TTC when I was 34. Things just don't always work out. I couldn't be happier though, and still work out 3 times a week.

Well, you may not win the oldest bubhubber award, nor the oldest mother but you certainly have earned my admiration:yes:. CONGRATULATIONS!!! I can only imagine how stoked you were when you got the results.
I had a PM from a lady in the UK who is moving back to her native QLD shortly and is expecting her first bub. She will be 46 once bub comes along. I invited her to chat with us but as yet she hasn't.
How is your little one taking to the idea of having a sibling?
Frankly, doesn't matter about the IVF and DE, you fell pg and what a blessing that is.
Come and chat with us in the 40+ group..don't be a stranger.

How cool that your 7yr old brother is an uncle.
My eldest dd (21) suggested that my 7yr old son will be the first to present me with a grandchild as she has no intention ever..lol. So no hopes of being a young grandma.

Hi ladies
Congratulations to all the mums to be. It is wonderful to hear your stories. Getting pregnant either way is a blessing, it doesn't matter how. Your baby was meant to be and will bring much joy to you and your family.
Talking about the uncle/auntie thing. I was chatting to my DD 15 yrs about when she does have a baby sometime (not too soon I hope), her baby sister who is 1 will be a pretty cool young auntie. At the moment there is not so much of a bond between them, not like it is with my DD 9 who is her full sister. My eldest DD 15 is from a previous marriage so it is her half sister. I hope and pray that they will be closer one day.
I had a horror night with DD 13 months last night. She wouldn't sleep all day yesterday and then woke up several times during the night and the last wake up was for 2 hours. I'm exhausted and started saying why at my age am I doing this, this is crazy, I will be 55 when she is 10, I feel like a milk machine, all my friends are having fun etc etc:ecomcity:.
Thank God she slept in until about 10am this morning and I got the most beautiful smile when I went to pick her up. She was sitting in her cot playing happily. I felt so guilty saying all those things.
Do you ladies get like that sometime, is it hard for you too?

For sure hon. I was even worried about being too old when my 7yr old was born. I was 37 at the time and thought I was going to be the oldest mum at the school..but thankfully there are plenty others out there holding off til that age or entering new relationships around that time and having another bub.
No need to feel guilty. I am incredibly exhausted all the time currently and a few times thought back to a year ago when I had two kids in school, full sleeps and sleep-in's on the weekend. I wondered what on earth I was doing putting myself back with nappies and night feeds but again, like you, I go to that cot to pick him up and he smiles so radiantly that I know in my heart he was meant to be in our family.
I guess when we discovered we were pg with him we calculated that by the time dh retires at 65years bub will be 24 and hopefully done with most of his education and out on his own. Ds1 will be 31, dd2 will be 30, and eldest dd will be 45 by then (OMG..same age I will be in two weeks time:eek:). They should all be productive and self sufficient so that dh and I can finally have some time by ourselves *phew*.
Enjoy your gorgeous children Maria.
Hugs,
Amy:)

Thanks Amy
You have made me feel better but I must admit I do miss the sleeping in, full nights sleep etc sometimes but then having DD 13months is so beautiful and I feel so blessed. When I read posts of women who are desperate to have a baby I feel so very lucky and those women who are trying so hard must think I'm being very selfish. I should count my blessings and make the most of it because after all they are only small and needy and will one day grow up and I will think where did the time go, did I make the most of it?
I shoudn't worry about my age I know but sometimes I just can't help it. My DH will be 48 this June so he will be 58 by the time she is 10 but somehow it doesn't seem to bother him at all.
Have a great day and thanks for your support.
Maria

What an interesting thread. I was 40 last grand final day and my boys were born in November 2001 and May 2004 (4 last Friday :)). While I know we're not having any more, I sort of wish we were. We won't because I've struggled a little for various reasons, though nothing major, but I feel a little sad about it.
Let me just poke my head in here, :D .
And say thank you girls for that vote for us oldies. :hugs: .
HI
I was 41 when I had DS and DD1, 44.5 when I had DDs 2 and 3. I'll be 47 next month and DH and I are thinking of "just one more". All my babes came from our 4th IVF cycle (damn you blocked tubes and PCOS :( ) and we still have some embryos on ice.
My 2 best friends are both grandmothers and one's "baby" just turned 21. It's fun when all the kids get together.
Good for you, Donna, I like it,.

Sorry Donna, didn't see this thread had another post til now.
Firstly, congrats on your four miracles to date:yelclap:. What a wonderful blessing they must be.
Secondly, good luck in ttc again. Will it be this year?
Personally I feel done, although not taking any precautions at present but hoping my body thinks it is done..lol. I had my last one at 44.5 yrs and don't think I could cope having another as I am so very tired. He is just enough to handle and I am ever thankful he joined our family..but I did the fourteen-months-apart-bubs a number of years ago and remember the exhaustion I felt then.
I also have a 21yr old 'baby'..but she lives in her own place and is off doing her own thing. We have a great friendship though..adult to adult now which is awesome.
Look forward to hearing from you more. Hope you join us in the 40+mums thread..http://www.bubhub.com.au/community/forums/showthread.php?t=182731

God love you hon!!:yelclap:. Emotionally and mentally I feel the same as I always have..but physically I am ready for the retirement village:laughing:. My poor knees haven't forgiven me for the last pregnancy.
I honestly believe there is a 'core age' to everyone though. Some ppl are born old..some are like Peter Pan. I think if you are a curious person you will always remain young-at-heart.
Oh but your little Alexis is just divine! She has such a beautiful shock of dark hair too :). Mine are all baldies til their first birthday..lol.
Have a lovely weekend.
