My daughter is 7 months old and I have no idea what to feed her now? What can she start eating and does anyone know of any good recipe books for babies or any good websites for when to introduce foods and what foods they can eat? At the moment she has mashed vegies, heinz custards and pureed fruit. But what else as she is getting bored?
Thanks
Hi
I found the best info in cook books for kids, as well as giving you different ideas for presenting the food, they'll also tell you when to start feeding what to your baby. The ones I liked were:
Breast bottle bowl
Women's weekly kid cook book
What to expect in the first year
If you want free info, I thought that Heinz had a website and booklet (but I'd expect that info is skewed towards getting you to use their products, they do have a vested interest)

I found that when making your dinner leave some aside for your little one and puree it. They like to eat what you eat, we found that out the hard way lol!! My little one loved mashed tuna etc

I always gave our girls pretty much what we ate just pureed, you just have to make sure that you don't give them to many different foods in a week just in case they have a reaction to something it is easier to pinpoint.
All the best!
I would recomend the Australian Womans Weekly Babies and Todders cookbook. It has every thing you need to know and is packed full of great recipes. I have a son who is 7 months and at the moment he eats what ever meat and vegies we have for dinner just chopped up or mashed up smaller. He also has started eating a sandwich for lunch with avacardo or vegemite on it. Snacks he loves yogurt, cheese, banana or a milk arrowroot biscuits. Hope some of our ideas can help a little.

I also use the Women's Weekly cookbook for babies and toddlers. Another good one is the booklet on introducing solids by the Australian Breastfeeding Association. I'm sure you can buy it whether you breastfeed or not, just go to their website. I bought mine over the net. Otherwise, just give them a smaller more mashed version of what you eat. By the way, I'm a little nervous to give bub garlic or other strong flavoured foods - what do other mum's do (my bub is 6 months old)? Sorry, Astonsmum, I don't intend to hijack your thread or anything, just thought I'd ask the question while I am here! :)

my son is 8.5mths and pretty much eats what we eat unless i find it not suitble for him (such as the slack nites of 2min noodles)...
a great one that i found was spagetti sauce (we just used mince and a jar of sauce) and veggies insted of pasta as he wouldnt eat the pasta... he loved it and still does...
as for spices such as garlic... I have always added garlic to my pasta meals, therefore he has always eaten it without any issues... and garlic is good for the immune system. I am hesitant on giving him things such as chilli, but we dont really eat it anyway.
if you do decide to cook a meal that is spicy try to take out bub's portion before adding the spices, it also gives it a chance to cool down.
on the nites where you might be eating something that isnt appropriate (such as junk food) i found that the babyfood jars are good for a once off meal and are reasonably cheap... i keep a few in the cupboard for those slack nites in or the nite out.
