I have had morning sickness all day and night with no break for the last 2 weeks. I can manage water and some fruit, but don't have an appetite at all and constantly feel terrible. I am also very low on iron. Has anyone got any ideas of what I can do to get some energy and feel any better? I haven't eaten a meal in this whole time and feel very very sick and weak. I am taking vitamins and iron, but it doesn't seem to help. Any advice would be wonderful :( :barf:

gee you poor thing - I was so lucky as I only vomited twice but dry reached for 3 1/2 months.
what vitamins and iron were you taking?? I took Elevit tablets and they made me feel great better than when I wasn't preggers.
Do you like ginger?? I've got a juice extractor and I use to make orange juice with fresh ginger in it everyday and when I was in a rush for work there was a juice place near work so I'd buy one plus whenever I felt yucky I'd also drink ginger beer.
have you been to the dr to see if he/she has any suggestions??
I hope your condition improves because you must just feel so not wanting to have this baby because of what you are going through.
:hugs: to you. Its no fun having MS. Go and see your Dr there is medicationslike "maxalon" that you can take during pergnancy. It didn't work for me but I know it works for a lot of people.
Good luck

Thanks guys, Your kind words are very helpful :) I haven't been to the Dr yet about it because I felt too sick to get dressed!!! , but I will. When I went to him the first time he told me that my pregnancy hormone was very high, in fact he said the highest he had ever seen in 31 years of medicine, so at least I know where the issue is!!!
One bonus is that I am not a spewer, but sometimes I wish I could because I think I would probably feel better!!
The ginger sounds good. Seem like lots of people on this site think it's the go.
I am taking Blackmores MV's but I might try Elevit instead.
Thanks Heaps

:hugs: See your OB/DR tomorrow - no excuses!! You won't get any better the longer you continue without eating anything substantial. Trust me, I know. I lost 14kgs in 9 weeks. I couldn't eat much either; for about a week all I ate was milk arrowroot biscuits and water. Anything else I ate I just vomited straight back up (like with 5 mins). After a while, I started not being able to stomach anything, including water. I became dehydrated, very ill and had to be hospitalised for three days. I then went on pramin (another form of maxolon) for the rest of the pregnancy, but I was still sick the entire time.
I cannot stress how important it is to get to the drs though. Don't leave until they give you medication to help you through it. They don't harm the baby, they help you to feel better and eat, which can only be good for the baby. There's no need to keep feeling sick, you just have to get out of the door to the drs. For me, DH rang my mother and she came round and kicked my butt out of bed and drove me to the hospital herself. If it hadn't been for them, I don't know where Lucy and I would be, as I did not want to go to hospital - was the best thing for us in the end.
Good luck and take care :hugs:

I'm of the opinion that Maxalon is proof of the existence of a benevolent, FEMALE god.
Blessed blessed stuff.
Nothing else worked for me - dry crackers made me sicker. Ginger made me sicker. Orange juice was nice ... then made me sicker.
The nausea sent me spiralling towards depression. Go to a doctor and get yourself a prescription.

If I recall correctly Vitamin C helps your body absorb Iron. A glass of real orange juice or a vitamin c tablet or two might help in that regard.

Bah you infidel you! :p
(I grudgingly admit that I experienced drowsiness and a little bit of dizziness on it ... :D )
Seriously, though, it works for a lot of people. And if it doesn't work for you, at least the doctor will know what other routes to take (stemetil works for a lot of people but not for me).

There is also a natural remedy that you can get at select chemists as they make it up for you called "Pulsatilla" it has worked wonders for many women. Didnt for me & neither did anything else but thats a different story.
Try anything & everything honestly it wont hurt you as such but you may just find something that works or you may find your one of the lucky women that MS just dissapears after some time but then there is also the worst case scenario.
:hugs:
Hang in there im sure you will find something.
When I went to him the first time he told me that my pregnancy hormone was very high, in fact he said the highest he had ever seen in 31 years of medicine, so at least I know where the issue is!!!
I was the same so I had to have an U/S to make sure I wasn't having multipals.
Good luck at the Drs.

The GentleBirth Midwifery archives have a huge amount of resources for dealing with pregnancy related nausea/sickness - medications such as Maxalon needn't be used except as a dire last resort, there's so much out there that can help, it's just we usually don't know about it! :) Try this:-

Here's some more information on the homoeopathic remedy Pulsatilla, mentioned by allyoo (it comes in the form of very small tablets, you can pick up a bottle very easily at any good Naturopathic/Homoeopathic store or practitioner, though you may wish to arrange a personal consultation as they may be able to tailor a remedy to suit your actual needs):-

I had severe nausea and vomiting of pregnancy and tried most if not all the natural remedies. Accupuncture, sea sickness bands, accupressure, homeopathics, a naturopaths guidance, extra zinc and B6 etc I think these are great if they help but sometimes they are not enough and women may need some medical help.
I had hyperemesis and needed some medical help, after trying numerous antiemetics including maxalon(which didn't help and I ended up having reactions too, including the anxiety that others described),
the best things for me were taking
b6 up to 150mg spread in small doses throughout the day,
1/2 tabs of Restavit (doxylamine succinate, an over the counter med) also spread throughout the day to a max of 75mg,
then zofran (very expensive prescription drug) up to 32 mg spread throughout the day.
If it is really bad and you are losing weight and/or getting dehydrated get some help either a GP, Ob or the hospital, you may need some IV fluids.
I found this hypermesis website and the forums to be my lifesaver (literally)

Best wishes for a nausea free pregnancy

Thanks to you all, what you have said is encouraging. I have been able to eat little meals now, which is making me feel somewhat better. It comes and goes, which is so much better than 24/7. Thanks again for all your help.:)

Pumpkin seeds are very high in iron..maybe you can nibble handfulls of those with fruit?
Any nuts too for that matter....I loved them...but you dont need large quantities.

Hi
I was sick throughout my entire pregnancy! I dont know if it had anything to do with having low blood sugars but I'm sure it didnt help. I tried maxolon and it made me feel anxiety too so my obs suggested Dramamine it was an antihistamine but is now a travel sickness tablet worked wonders.
