Hi all

Dh works for a family run company, that is in many counrties, and they have someone in their family running the company in each country, anyway they are building one in the US, and must have run out of family, as they want DH to go and be the big boss.

:yelclap: for DH :yelclap: Im very proud of him!!!

seems they offered him the job, they asked us to think about what state we would want to live in the most, and they will try to place the company where we want to live as best they can.

Well thats all good and well, but I have no idea??

I have never been there, have no family there. nothing.

It will just be us, and I want to know what are the best states. climate wise, family wise,

any info at all will be great.

wow how exciting. I have close friends in Wilmington North Carolina and its beautiful there, safe and family oriented. They also film a lot of tv shows and movies there which is exciting but also good, cuz u can check it out without having to go there first lol.

'The notebook' was filmed in the area.

'dawsons creek' was filmed there

and 'one tree hill' is filmed there. They use the whole town as the fictional 'tree hill' and all the cast and crew live there so you see them a fair bit, which can be fun starspotting.lol

I was there a few years back for a visit and I just LOVE it there.such lovely scenery. Its got a sub-tropical climate mainly. never really gets above 30-ish but can get to about 4 in the winter.

um other than that ive only been to southern california and new york. San Fransisco was nice but if your looking for nice, quite family places I'd head to the south or the midwest, places like New England etc

But Pasadena in southern California is really nice.

But I'd definately move to North Carolina in a heartbeat....boy I wish there was an Australian RAAF base there or an american base we could transfer to. (hubbys RAAF)...lol wishful thinking? haha it really just reminds me of those all american, apple pie, white picket fence places you see at the movies.

A Canadian friend of mine says his favourite place on Earth is North Carolina too.

I spent my whole life in Virginia, until I moved to Australia last year.

Let me tell you why to pick VA!

The nation's capitol is within driving distance (FREE and HUGE Smithsonian zoo, free museums)

Mountains in Virginia for hiking, beaches in Virginia for surf and sun, Virginia is beautiful in the countryside (I grew up next to a huge dairy farm) but has many fun and exciting cities (spent the last 4 years in Northern VA)

let me also mention Kings Dominion (an awesome theme park in Doswell VA) my family's favorite place in the world, haha! You can get a season pass for 60.00 each and go there every day if you want for the whole summer.

But wherever you choose, I know you'll enjoy it! :yelclap::yelclap::yelclap:

Wow you are lucky.

We may have to move to the US for a few years for DH's work ... but definately dont get the choice where.

It will be (most likely) to hicksville Oaklahoma .... Trust me - that is a place NOT to choose.

(There is a small possibility that it may be to Houston ..:fingerscrossed:)

Florida is nice .... we went to Orlando - has Disney land, NASA, ok weather, lots of islands and holiday places around. ??

Oh, this would be a tough one ... I moved here from Austin, Texas, and I absolutely loved it there. It's a very progressive city, lots of kid-friendly activities and a very strong community identity. One drawback: it gets H-O-T in the summer! I also really like Portland, Oregon and Seattle, Washington, which will give you great summers and chilly, sometimes snowy winters. Portland can be a bit cloudy and rainy for some people's taste, but it's so green and lush. Northern California and the San Francisco area are great for weather, scenery, and culture, but OH so crowded and crazy expensive ... well anyway, those are a few options to look at. :)

What a fabulous opportunity! Congrats to you and hubby!
