I am so in love with their stuff!

I've decided that I'm going to splurge and get a few sets once the baby is here, I plan on breastfeeding for a while so I want some nice stuff!! :D

I like the black and white one, and the blue one.

Do you like?!?!?! :D

It's gorgeous stuff, isn't it? I was going to pick some up when I was back home in NZ for a holiday...there's a shop round the corner from my parents who stock Hot Milk. Given I am *still* breastfeeding my son...& there is a distinct lack of anything nice in the shops near us, I'd like some really nice maternity bras.

Is it a bit harder to come by in the shops over there?

I wasn't planning to get them until after bubs is born but if it's easier to find here I might just keep them ready and waiting! :p

I think you can get them in some shops over here but (& here's logic for you) I live in Melbourne's fastest growing municipality...in fact, it is one of the fastest growing cities in Australia. There are so many families with young kids here that you have to put your kids on a waiting list for the NZ equivalent of Kindergarten *at birth* or else they simply miss out (or you have to send them to one that is invariably not your 1st choice). So, with this in mind, there is virtually no where in the area I live that sells nice maternity bras. No where. Unless you want shapeless, ugly looking things (in which case, you have a choice of two colours - white or a nasty blue colour). When I was looking for something for when #2 was born I simply couldn't find *anything* that looked nice. I searched everywhere. I finally settled on a rather plain style that wasn't overly hideous but I was really surprised at the lack of maternity bras.

Maternity clothing isn't much better, either...Pumpkin Patch or JK...unless you can find something that fits amongst the horrible maternity clothing at Target (who, for some strange reason, seem to think that you require maternity clothing...therefore, you must be a size 22...riiiight).

I've since learned of a pregnancy shop 30 mins drive from me (that, admittedly, also do bras...incl some Hot Milk, I think...but wasn't aware of them last time). However, it's a bit of a trip (especially with my son). I thought I might as well wait till I was back in NZ, bring mum with me (make a bit of an afternoon of it), leave #1 & 2 with my dad, walk down to the shops & splurge on some nice preggie goodies. NZ have much better maternity clothes too, I think.

Wow! They should really have more of a range!!

I stayed in...I'm going to show my NZness here...South Yarra...Toorak...Toorak Road? There, in January 2007 and I couldn't find much either, apart from this hideously snobby couple of shops that no way was I spending my money in...I think that was the 'type' of area tho...?

That sounds like a great idea, making a day of it, how cool would that be, a day of shopping without having to stop to wipe noses and bums! :p

Oh wow, they are lovely!!

I would like to invest in some nice stuff this time. I didn't BF my son for long and this time I plan on going for at least a year.

Thanks for sharing mummalicious!

Just a random Q- at what stage do you need to buy maternity bras? I am only 4 weeks and already popping out of my bras

 At about 8 weeks I went out and bought normal bras but in bigger sizes.

When I was...7 months I bought my first maternity bra, and wore that with my normal ones until I had him, then bought a few more. :o

I wasn't very onto it, boobie wise, I wasn't used to actually having boobs!

You could ask in the general chat section, since I'm so useless with this one! :p

 It's hard to know what to do isn't it! I'm thinking I will buy a couple of normal bras just to get me through the next few months, then once they start getting bigger I will get some proper maternity bras.

I still wear maternity bras that I got when preg with Mason (2 years ago!) and I never ended up being able to breastfeed! They are pretty sad now :o

If you intend to breastfeed, depending on how big you are to begin with & how much weight you put on, you will probably be ok with a maternity bra in the size you normally wear (this one will be your main bra)...plus one size bigger for when your milk comes in (your boobs get engorged & huge but it's not for long...only a few days, maybe a week at most (although your results may vary!) but you'll need a bigger bra). But you shouldn't bother getting them until you're closer to the due date because your size can change, especially if you're small to start with - I was an A cup when preggie with #1....ended up a C cup by the end & have stayed that way ever since!! Didn't change sizes at all with #2.

If in doubt, get fitted.

And probably best to stay away from underwire during pregnancy & breastfeeding - it can block milk ducts & cause mastitis.

I have the hot milk black and white lace one..... Very comfortable, even to sleep in. When I bought it, the lady in the lingerie shop told me, that bra fitters are taught to fit maternity bra's from 12 weeks. And I'm not sure if all brands are the same now, but my hot milk one has a lot of clips that do them up at the back, so at 12 weeks, you start on the smallest size, and every month or so, you can loosen them one clip or whatever you need.... Do I make sense? But also, I tried on a dusty pink one with embroidered flowers by hot milk too, and it didn't fit nearly as nice as the black and white one....?????.....

I was bored & cruising the forum & decided to post a wee update on the Hot Milk purchasing (& fugly...this was after my PM to you about how I'd found them, so interested to know if you had any issues with them).

I found the same thing as Mumsi - the padded bras (so that's the pink "Delicate & Dangerous" & the turquoise "Ablaze with Azure" ones...haven't tried the new purple "Midnight Mystique" one so not sure if they've fixed this problem or not) don't fit as well as the non padded ones. I'm a 16C...& I found the fronts of the padded ones gaped quite a bit at the front. The place I ordered them from (who are beyond lovely & helpful!) said they've had a few issues with this in the smaller sizes...so not sure if it's quite as big a problem in larger sizes.

Similarly the white & floral "Love in a Mist" fit fine in the cups but was too short in the straps & back.

Apart from those, I ended up buying several sets (some from the 2007 season...so those are ones like the rose "Baby Doll Delicious," the red/white "Cherry Bomb Chic," the black/silver "Silver Sass Kitten" & the green/black "Sinfully Sweet Seductress") as well as some from the newest season (pink/black "Silhouette of a Secret" & the blue/cream "The Age of Allure") & they are way beyond comfy & yummy. I find they fit well (although, remember, I'm smaller...so don't need lots of support) & they're just so comfy to wear. Plus they look good :D Boo for beige!

The camis, nighties & PJs are comfy too (yes...I might have bought just a few HotMilk things...lol).

As for all those nasty granny bras from last time - I've donated them to Uplift! (http://www.upliftbras.org/) Maternity bras are in high demand & I quite liked knowing someone could still get some use out of my old ones (as they still have a wee bit of life left in them).

I've just bought the Age of Allure in a 10FF. It is really comfy and reeeeealllly feminine considering my size is normally designed with my Nan in mind (who had her last child in 1947!!!

Love Hot Milk stuff!
