Ok so I am 5 days over and still nothing. Went to my appointment this morning and they havebooked me in for the 20th to have my waters broken and then to be induced....
I am really scared :o
I have heard such bad and painful story's from other mums when they had this done
Is there anything I can do to prepair myself for the pain and agony I am going to feel?

Kepeing my fingers crossed that they break before hand....

Oh and also they done the fetal monitoring and a ultrasound and there was alot of fluid, alo more than the sonographer and I expected. They said that bubs maybe small or when my waters break it will be gushing...
Should I be concerned about bubs size?
The only thing she really told me was the length which she was 40cm

if you're so scared about the pain of induction vs the pain of natural labour, dont be induced.... if baby is ok, and you're ok, there's really no reason for them to induce you. a normal pregnancy is up to 42 weeks, so you're not really 'overdue' yet anyway....

whatever you decide, good luck with everything! in the end, labour and birth will reward you with your beautiful baby!

okay i didnt think it hurt not at all and i was the biggest sookiest 17 year old ever..

its cold but... oh well.

im not sure about the water breaking i was on gas.. or it was after i had a epi... i just felt this liquid running up my back.

i got told bubs would be VERY small as i was tiny and belly was tiny and he was measuring at least 1-2 months behind what i was.

but he was a 9 pound four baby.

try not to worry about it

Hey Munchkins, haven't been induced, but am also in the 'overdue' boat. 4 days over here, but yeah i'm not doing anything until after 2 weeks. Glad that they aren't going to induce you till the 20th though, that's still gives you another week or so to try and get bubs to come before then. :fingerscrossed: for us that our bubs decide to come out soon. :)

I would imagine having a lot of fluid would be a good thing. Babies that are considered "very overdue" are often born with very little fluid around them.

As to whether being induced is painful? You are likely to get many mixed responses here but for me it was horrendously painful. There was no control left in my DS's birth at all. It was completely out of my hands once they broke my waters and inserted that drip-that is when I became a patient.
Don't get me wrong, I was overawed when my baby was finally born and was fortunate to experience an amazing birth high from it, but it seemed like it was all done for me.

My next two babies were born when and how they wanted to and were absolutely thrilling experiences from start to....well they still are!

Bubs may end up coming before you are booked for your induction anyway.

I was booked for an induction and went into labour 2 days prior. When I went into labour I was 7 days overdue.

As for the fluid, I wouldn't be concerned. Try to relax.

hey munchkins...

dw bout being induced its not too bad... having said that its different for everyone!!!

i was induced with my dd.. i was 9 days over...

i went into the hospital in the morning.. they broke my waters... hooked my up to an iv with the drugs that help bring on contractions... they had to do it in time slots as i had to have antibiotics aswell as i was gbs positive so it took a bit longer...

my labour went very well... i had a normal delivery and last till about an hr b4 she was born without any pain relief!!!

they broke my waters at about 11.30am and dd was born at 9.04 pm...

hope that helps!!!

ps, how do u get those count dwn thingys???

Take some long walks, luxurious bubblebaths, treat yourself to a cut n colour, basically anything to relax and pamper yourself, taking your mind to a zone it needs as it prepares for birth.

As said already induction is so unnecessary, unless for serious medical issues, bubs come when ready not on inaccurate dates from ultrasounds.

:hugs: and :goodvibes: for a spontaneous start to labour.

yep like FC I had gel and that hurt really badly especially after the 2nd lot was put in. Never ever again, will I get induced not due to the pain, due to other reasons.

I had a dreadful induction.

But I wont try to scare you. I had medical reasons (low fluid and a baby that stopped growing) for being induced at 38 weeks.

I was booked for an induction with DD2 aswell, but i was told to have sex, alot! This can be a natural way to induce labour and it worked for us the next day!!!

try your walking up and down gutters and long warm baths. bumpy drive in the car... not too bumpy.

good luck!
