View Full Version : Proud teenage mother...no more?
:(:(Basically, in eleven days time it will be my birthday...and I will turn 20....so I won't be a teenage mother anymore:(.
I personally don't think it matters what age you are anyway, but I've just used to agitating people with the fact that I'm a teenage mother. I used to hate it at first, but then I thought, hey people are going to make a fuss over you anyway, so you may as well make a joke out of it and laugh at them!
I don't know what my attachment with being a teenage mother is...but I just don't want to turn 20! It seems so old:crying:! I'm getting old:hissy:...LOL.
Anyone else felt weird about turning 20??

Well, if it makes you feel any better, you will always be a young mum, as you were a teenager when you had him :)
But maybe it will help you move on and really not care what idiots think of teenage mums once you are 20...never mind challenging them or laughing. They are not worth it. From your posts I can see you really love your son and that is all that matters.
Golly, I wish I had your problem...LOL...
I am 20 mid July, and I cringe everytimg i think or hear about turning 20!! I know it seems ridiculuos... but i feel EXACTLY the same as you do!!!!!!
20 is half way to 40!!!!!!!!
Dont worry your not alone.... perhaps us oldys will have to support each other.....
20 is half way to 40!!!!!!!!
:iagree:, just how I feel:laughing:!
I feel as though us oldies will need some support group to help us deal with the trauma of getting old:p!

You're still a YOUNG Mum though.
I'm 22, but I had DD at 19 (pregnant at 18)... so I mean, while it might be kinda normal-ish for someone of 22 to have their first... it's not so "normal" for them to have a 3 year old at 22...if that makes sense.
I'll always be a young Mum...even when I'm old. I don't think you can really ever outgrow that.
But yeah, sometimes I do feel old... I've gone out clubbing a few times lately, and everyone is always younger than me! I'm only 22! Surely I'm not ancient just yet!
(It's okay though, because everyone always tells me they thought I was 19...lol...ahhhh...there's one for them ... a 19 year old with a 3 year old...lol).

Hmm... can't say I feel the same way as you do.
I am 20 and I couldn't wait! I don't mind being a young Mum. I just hated the 'teenage Mum' label. Really, really looking forward to being 21!
Maybe it's because I'm married and I didn't feel like people took us as seriously because we were only teenagers:confused: I don't know.
I wish I could be more like you though and not care about my age.

Y'know I'm going through a massive identity crisis right now cause of my age. I'm not a teenage mum - was 21 when I fell pregnant and had Jedd at 22 - am now 23 and pg with #2. But I'm STILL a young mum and I love it! BUT - I hate the fuddy duddy feeling of being a mum. So yesterday I went out and got my hair cut all short and funky and today I went out and bought some cute funky clips - just like the ones I used to wear when I was 16!!! I cant wait to wear them all again and be ME again
You should always be proud that you were a teen mum and did such a great job.
And HEY! What about poor me, I turn 25 next month :crying: :p

No matter what my age, I will always have that time in my life where I was a teen mum.
That's when my Mumma journey started, I don't think I will ever not be a teen mum.
Even when I'm 50, I will still have that. :goodvibes:

I hated the idea of not being a teenager anymore and if i had three wishes one of them would to be a teen again
I don't think your alone in this, entering your 20's is hard for alot of people
I was a teen bride and I think thats something I'll always hold on to.
