I've never been to a baby shower and have one coming up in a couple of weeks.

Anyone got any great ideas for gifts?

Cute clothes :D I loved getting those!
If you know that their nursery has a theme, buy something for that
My dad got me an awesome popup laundry/toy hamper
Bouncer/Rocker thingieo
Activity mat
Toy box...

heaps of neat things :)

I have also heard of people saying they loved being bought dressing gowns and slippers for the mummy, and someone said the best present they got was about 10 or more packs of panadol :p

hmm there is LOTS to choose from - clothes.. toys.. vouchers... I got a few really nice books for bubs (nice cause they are different to toys) - what about a few things for down the track?? thermometer?? an embroidered towel?? (mabye with 'baby Smith' embroidered on it?? since you wouldn't know the name?? ) I loved the towels I was given :D

just dont buy lotions etc!!!! I ended up with SOOOO many bottles of STUFF!!! - I just returned 5 unopened bottles of baby oil to Woolworths - at least I got to exchange them... but 5 bottles??!!! add to that the baby lotions and bath stuff (the bath stuff I kept) and WOW ... lots of stuff I'll never use!!!!

Thery are so gorgeous - a soft toy, but different. You know if you get that it wont sit in the bottom of a toy basket!! I am going to get one for ds and new bub!!

When I have my baby shower I am sort of hoping that people get me cute lil outfits for bubby.

I would LOVE it if a couple of people went in on a present together and asked me what I would like. But if they don't that's more than okay too.

I don't really want lotions or potions or stuff like that, but if I get them, that's cool.

Maybe a pocket nappy, so then if I wanted to have a turn using one I could, even though we are planning to use disposables. Just one pocket nappy would be a good chance to try it out. And kind of funky and imaginative.

I think cot / bassinet sheets are a practical idea that can also be very cute! I was very pendantic about changing them and so it was good to have plently of back-ups in the cupboard.

Maybe a bit boring, but honestly, you get so many toys, clothes, lotions etc, it's the practical things you really need.

I saw some super cute sets at David Jones this morning, and they were 30% off.

I just recently went to a baby shower and for the mummy, I got her a pedicure voucher (as a treat, as she hasn't seen her feet for a while  ) and for bubs I got a sling (www.babaslings.com.au) which she loved!!

I agree with the others, you can't have too many towels, muslin wraps, bibs, face washers, cot sheet sets and cute baby outfits (sizes 000, 00 or 0, as they grow very quickly)!!

A great idea is to get a few friends together and make up a voucher to have her house ready when she gets home from hospital. House cleaned, fridge and pantry cleaned out (get rid of old stuff, or cook it up into stews and bakes etc and freeze it for her), fresh produce in the fridge, some meals in the freezer, fresh sheets on the bed, fresh flowers in the living areas and her bedroom...

Up to you how far you want to go with it. Just cleaning up and giving her a haven to walk into is good enough.
