Hi all,

Does anyone know anything about this??

My mums first born was stillborn due to an insufficient Placenta, whereby her placenta didnt last the full 9 months so the baby died...

During her next three pregnancies she had this problem and with constant monitoring and an induction early all her babies arrived safely.

She said from 30 weeks she had to have weekly scans, from 35 weeks she had a scan and a blood test every two days and then when it looked as tho the placenta was not working as well she wasnt allowed to go home and was induced then and there.

I am having my 20 week morphology scan this Thursday and will bring it up with the doctor then, but does anyone know any more information or know whether this condition is genetic??

Any advice would be appreciated.. :D

Hi EmmaJ
I know that in the last few weeks of my first pg, the doc looked at my placenta (using ultrasound) for signs of failure. He didn't bother with the second pg. I would guess that you'd have to be very unlucky for this condition to have been passed from your mother to you (you've got your dad's genes too - that's got to help). The doc should be able to set your mind to rest.

Cheers

Thanks xkwzit...

I googled it earlier today and couldnt seem to find anything on whether it was genetic or not.. so hopefully your right.. :)
