I just want to know if I should be packing nappies for the baby, or does the hospital provide them?

Sorry, I don't know much about burnside - but I do know that I went to a private hospital that supplied the nappies but I have heard stories of other private hospies where you have to bring your own.

If I were you I would just ring the midwives and ask them what they supply and what you need to bring. That way even if someone on bubhub tell you that when they had their baby 2 years ago that nappies were supplied..... you can be sure that things haven't changed and now you have to bring your own for example. Good Luck with your up coming delivery

When I had DS at Burnside they supplied everything for the baby. Nappies, singlets, wraps, wipes, lotions, etc.....

Burnside are great. I had DD there January 2007 and am due to deliver there again in July. They have a constant supply Huggies nappies all you need to do is ask for more or collect them from the nursery. They also give you sorbolene and creams and wipes. They can supply you with singlets and growsuits but I found them to feel a bit rough because they are old so you might want to take you own. They also have plenty of wraps and blankets too.

Just on the food side their meals are great. I found myself ordering so much cos it was so yummy. I hated going home and having to cook for myself again. The only down side is that they dont have a cooked breakfast but hot lunches and dinners in either small or big servings is great. Hubby can also order from the dinner and breakfast menu if he stays overnight.

Thanks all! I just received info from the hospy offering the Hyatt option. I am uncertain about whether to do this or not. Of course the idea of staying in a hotel is nice, but without nurses on call (in case of problems with bf'ing or more serious issues) I am not sure if it is a good idea. I also like the fact that at the hospital visitor times are restricted.

What are your thoughts?

Personally, if it were me and I was having my first child I would prefer to stay at the hospital. If it was my second or third I would go stay at the Hyatt.

The Hyatt option includes midwives on call in the hotel if you need them. As far as my OB told me they have booked out a whole floor and have all the facilities of the hospital including midwives, nappies etc, hot meals, help for bathing and feeding bubsetc (except surgery of course). The option gives you 2 nights in the hospital to recover and then 2 nights at the hotel. You can only have this option if the OB thinks that you are fit and well to leave the hospy. It wont be considered after a c-section.
