Hey Ladies.. AT my18 week u/s it showed my babys kidneys were "slightly dialted" therefore i went back for a 30 week scan last week to check if they have gone back to normal, and now only 1 is slightly bigger..
The baby will now have to have an u/s when he is 2 days old to determine if they are back to normal, and if he needs to be treated..

Has anyone had/heard of this before? I cant help but feel really worried.

My son also had this, they found it when i had my 18 week u/s, however my bubs didnt decrease and they both stayed inlarge, so when my son was born they put him on antibiotic for a month to see if that decreased them and a week after he was born he had to have an ultrasound and an mcu, which is a small tube place down the center of his willy to see if the kidneys were draining proberly (which they were) so from then on he had ultrasounds every 3 months for the first 2 years of his life them the doctors clear him as over time they improved enought to be within "normal limits" . Please dont stress too much, as you rather them to find out now then later, if you have any qustions feel free to pm me;)

I also had this exact same thing with my 2nd son....he was on antibiotics after he was born, though he never showed any need for them (maybe they were working and that is why? who knows). He was never ill or in any discomfort, was a beautiful contented baby. Went back for the ultrasound of his kidneys and all was seen as fine....

I'm sure you dont have to worry, usually these things correct themselves in the womb, but the dr's just want to be cautious.

I had the same thing happen at my 18week scan (and by the looks of this thread.. it happens often??) - when I went back at 28weeks they seemed ok ..

I still insisted that they look at Jack's kidneys at 6 weeks ... as recommended by my OB before the 28 week scan... at 6 weeks he was given the all clear...

:hugs: I hope it sorts itself out :hugs: I totally understand the stress....
