I got pulled over by the transport department on the way home from dropping the kids off from school.

They where doing admission test, mine didnt past at all. i have been telling my DH for ages now, that my car has been using to much petrol, the transport officer said too me after they have done the test that my petrol bill must be sky high:rolleyes:.

He gave me the card with how much my car uses of carbon monoxide and hydrocarbon, and when i looked at it i was like . The CM has to be under 1 mine is 8.8 and for the Hydrocarbon its meant to be under 150 mine was 1870:o.

I said to the officer that im glad i had it done and i have proof to show my DH how bad my car is. I rang him as soon as i got home and told him about it, he has booked me in for a major tune up tomorrow:laughing::D.

Yeah emissions tests are regulary carried out....especially in the woodridge area, near QLD transport for those who know the area. They set up roadside 'things' like breath testing....

Usually the cause of high emissions has something to do with your cat converter....which is suppose to filter the emissions...there are other things, but that is the main one...and using 98 fuel lowers emissions as it burns hotter..

What type of car do you have??? Have they now deemed it unroadworthy, as that is the usual occurance...or give you a certain amount of time to get it fixed....

I have a holden commodore 1994 model, they didnt deem it unroadworthy or give me a time to fix it. which is wierd cause i thought i would have gotten like a fine or something. but im fixing it anyway. cant afford the high petrol bill i have. i put $40 in and its gone in like 4 -5 days and thats just taking the kids to school and back. no running around at all

LOL there's your problem there...the Commodore part...nah just kidding...really I am..

I thought they gave out fines, or deemed your car unraodworthy too......maybe you were lucky cos you honestly didnt know.... Dunno, not saying it would be good if you were left without a car or with a fine, but why waste valuable resources on doing these if they dont do 'anything' about it, if you get what I mean....

Anyway, lucky for you you still have your car and no fine....

Wow! I don't think they have those here, mind you, I don't think they have anyone from the RTA on duty the majority of the time here!
