i wouldn't say i'm well versed in this area, but i believe that you do, if just to get them used to it. babies born with heart conditions are given start up teeth brushing packs. even when they don't have teeth they have some sort of implement with a bit of texturised rubber on it to swipe across their gums to get them used to brushing. this is because of the link between gum disease and heart disease. it is imperative they keep their oral hygiene up too scratch.
i left it really late to brush DS 's teeth. if you are unsure about using a child's brush, you can wipe over their teeth with a piece of cheesecloth or maybe a muslen cloth, and introduce a brush later down the track

Hello perhaps I can offer some advice....
Im a dental nurse/assistant so I have some idea on this subject......well I should do lol:laughing:
I would say that you should start brushing childrens teeth AS SOON as they have them. Especially if they are on solids.....one for hygeiene reasons and 2 to get them used to brushing....
You can buy tooth brushes designed for babies at the chemist and osme supermarkets- just make sure that the one you get is very very soft and avoid scrubbing at their gums. When brushing your childs teeth or your won for that matter use small circular pulsating movemebts NEVER scrud from side to side- this strips all the enamel off your teeth!!
Very very important to start good oral hygeine at a young age!!
Good job adele that was very detailed and professional! :smiliedance:
Ditto to that tho i started brushing DS tooth as soon as it came through.
