Hi everyone, im new to the forum so sorry if I break any forum etiquite rules!

Af isnt due for me until the 10th (atleast) of this month, and Im usually late - theres been times where Ive been three months late but not pregnant. I have never been early, but this month I got brown cm on the 4th, and so thought af had arrived.

It wasnt heavy enough for a tampon (sorry tmi) but I figured it would be the next day, so I waited... and waited... and now its the 8th, and I still only have this brown cm, its only light, but there was a bit of pink with it aswell. I took a pregnancy test on Tuesday, and it came back negative :bfn: so I dont think I am pg, but I guess it could have been to early for the test to pick up :fingerscrossed:. I would have ovulated around the 25th of last month I think, im not sure but I dont think the tests work that early...

My partner and I have been trying to concieve since January, so heres hoping. No doubt af will arrive properly tommorow though! Its so strange. Never had this before, so im baffled as to whats going on. :hair:

Ps these emoticons are so cool! :yelclap: sorry for the long post :ecomcity:

I've only ever had spotting once and was all concerned. That's how I found BubHub :D

I was Google searching what it meant and it gave me a link to this site.

Anyway...I didn't turn out to be PG.

Maybe just wait to see if AF turns up before doing another test. If she doesn't show up in a weeks time, maybe test again.

:fingerscrossed: it's a :bfp:

It may have been an anovular cycle for you. What this means is that your body prepares to ovulate but pulls out at the last minute for some reason or another. You have a really short luteal phase, hence AF coming earlier than usual and AF is only very scant (usually). Do you chart? It's a great way of knowing what's going on with your cycle.

Thats not actually correct JimJamsMum. An anovulatory cycle is indeed a cycle where you do not ovulate but if you do not ovulate then you can not have a luteal phase (the luteal phase being the time between ovulation and AF). In cases of anovulatory cycles you have a withdrawal bleed, no a proper AF. The withdrawal bleed can be caused by two things, either the lining has become so heavy that it simply starts shedding of its own accord or your hormone levels reach a point where they can no longer sustain the lining.

In your case there are a few other possible explanations as well. Are you 100% sure of when you ovulated? If not then its possible that you ovulated late and have just experienced ovulation spotting. The other possibility is a mid luteal phase oestrogen surge. When you hear the term "implantation bleed" its actually not implantation at all. During the luteal phase you get a surge of oestrogen which plumps up the uterine lining a bit more just in case there is an embryo floating around looking for a new home. This surge causes the spotting that some get during the 2WW (and for charters also causes the mid luteal phase dips). This is why some women can get mid luteal phase spotting and still not be pregnant.

Good luck, I hope it proves successful when you next test.

Maybe wait until after you are late for AF & if it doesnt show then do a test :D

Good luck

I for some reason get spotting from 4-9 days before AF is due and everyday its a browny discharge and sometimes pink when I wipe.... so could be something similar. HOpefully for you it's implantation!

Thanks for your advice everyone!
Ive still got this happening, its very very odd. Im going to wait until after af is due, then test again.

I was also overly hormonal last night. I burst into tears because I couldnt work out what we should eat for dinner. My poor partner didnt know what to do! I get hormonal before af is due all the time, but never to that extent. strange.

Yes, that's exactly right. I realised last night I had my terminology mixed up. Thanks for correcting it.

well its still happening, today would be the 10th day of it, so I called that national health line advice service, they were really helpful, and suggested I go to the doctor, just to make sure nothings wrong, purely because its lasted so long.
So im off to the doctor this arvo, Ill let you know what he says. Hopefully its all good! Did another preg test today, which came back negative:bfn:. No doubt ill have to go have a blood test, not looking forward to that! I always get bruises

Just got back from the doctor, he said that it sounds like Im pregnant, and that this is just implantation bleeding. I have to go get a blood test on Monday, because I have to wait 14 days from when the bleeding started (which explains why I keep getting negative hpt's!).
He also said it could just be hormonal bleeding :(
So hopefully af doesnt show up, and when i get the test, it says :bfp:!!!
Im trying not to get my hopes up too much though

Really sorry to hear that.

So any new developments? Did AF show up or maybe you are indeed pregnant?

Here's hoping its the latter. :fingerscrossed:

Hi Ness,
It turned out I did get pregnant that cycle, and the funny period was counted as a normal period when they dated the pregnancy, as in the one that they date the pregnancy from. They must have done the blood test too early - perhaps before we concieved (by like a day I think). Unfortunately, I ended up having a miscarriage, so now Im waiting three months until we can start ttc again!
Im not sure but I doubt that the funny period had anything to do with the mc though.
Hope you get your af soon, its frustrating having long cycles isnt it!
Ive heard that after a pregnancy your periods can go from long cycles to normal, 28(?) day cycles, so hopefully thats the case for me.

:hugs: Danielle, i am sorry about your m/c.
I hope that your cycles go to a nice normal 28 days and you are pg again soon :goodvibes:

Hopefully my AF turns up soon. Every negative is closer to a positive but without AF it makes it harder. Grrrr

Good luck :fingerscrossed::babydust2:
